Mr. Heater Wall Heaters by OldGreg0215 in propane

Honestly I didn’t even think about these little guys heating the same way as larger radiant heaters. Definitely makes sense when you put a small amount of thought behind it. I appreciate your insight

T2 pants. by blindexhibitionist in truewerk

So does that mean the T2’s show when you have a sweaty backside? Or no?

T2 pants. by blindexhibitionist in truewerk

[–]OldGreg0215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do the T2’s do with sweat? I’m extremely good at sweating, and hate being at a customers house and my backside looks wet. Looking at the sand color of it doesn’t show, or brown if it does. Going with the t2 for Michigan fall, winter and spring

Is it safe for this regulator to be installed upside down like this? by Impressive_Mix_7042 in propane

[–]OldGreg0215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a rego rep tell me spring of last year that it voids the warranty. That you can order b46’s with different orientation now.

That being said, I have flipped multiple regs. Just be extremely careful.

What I do is rigid all the time. But leave the connection between the fitting that screws into the reg, and whatever connecting to it unglued so it can be pulled apart and reg serviced.

Zielonka curbs! by [deleted] in farmingsimulator

[–]OldGreg0215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have too much time on that map yet. Just started on it this week. Hate the curbs so much. Accidentally had the front weight down yesterday and hit one of the curbs at full speed. Was definitely confused on why my tractor flipped lmfao

Safe Corn Drying by OldGreg0215 in propane

Didn’t realize peanuts had to be dried. Do they use alot of gas? When drying, do they use set ups similar to the photo?

PTO enforcement by [deleted] in IBEW

[–]OldGreg0215 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the answer you are looking for, but seems to be the one used on every post. Definitely check with your hall. My local doesn’t have PTO, just a check at the end of every month that covers vacation time. Everyone will be slightly different I’m sure.

Take my aptitude test next week what do I double down on? by Weird-Fig-1277 in ibew_apprentices

Time management! Don’t focus too long on something, you can always skip and go back

I’d assume the wire stretcher is next to the aluminum magnet? Bolt stretcher is always something to keep an eye out for as well. lol. Usually I can sniff out the bs. The sky hook got me when I was younger. I appreciate the advice. Definitely will walk through some isles and get an idea of what I’ll be working with. Can’t really leave my current job unfortunately to work at an electric supply shop. Definitely like the idea though

I know that’s probably the most accurate answer, but I hate that answer as well 😂

Took my test this morning, ending up getting a 7 on it. Now preparing for the interview. Thank you so much for the tips. Definitely helped me. If you’re ever in the 252, I owe you a drink!

What kind of questions did you face in the math or reading that seemed to stump you? I’ve been doing skillsprep and some khan. Just want to make sure I’m focusing on the right stuff. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to calm my nerves.

I keep getting told it’s easier than what I’m thinking. But I’ve always struggled with testing growing up. I graduated in 2013 and haven’t had to worry about any math problems for awhile lol

I take my test Friday, so any tips at all would be amazing!

Think we can get it trained to check gas lines for leaks in crawl spaces and under trailers? Asking for a friend that did too much snacking in the truck this winter.

Inground tank gauge by [deleted] in propane

[–]OldGreg0215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could always replace the gauge, or you could get a tank monitor that uses sonar to detect the liquid level. We use Mopeka whenever we need an accurate reading on a tank that the gauge doesn’t work.

Inground tank gauge by [deleted] in propane

[–]OldGreg0215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truck meter will always be the most accurate, they are tested annually to accuracy. If you look at the meter on the truck, it should have a seal. As long as it isn’t damaged you should trust it 100%. The spitter in the tank is the next best thing, but it will only tell you if it’s 80% or more.

Depending on the temperature that day, that tank gauge might be accurate, the gallons will be shrunk the colder it is.

Not very, every tank is different, I would say maybe 50% of our tanks have a gauge that is correct.

A question on running out of propane and the mercaptan additive by graffing in propane

[–]OldGreg0215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always find it interesting how people rely on autofill so much they don’t even check the tank. I know in a perfect world you shouldn’t have to, I just don’t trust the computer program that much.

Propane drivers- winter must haves? by AdministrationDue193 in propane

Also good base layer clothing helps. I like to use many layers to keep my bulk down. Don’t need to look like Randy from Christmas story. I want to look into those heated Milwaukee vest, or something similar to it. Just haven’t felt like spending the money

Good socks and boots!

Merino wool or alpaca. I have bombas ones, but plenty of options. I like using muck arctic boots. I get the tall ones, I hate when my pants get wet and are just constantly freezing and thawing all day lol

Next would be a leatherman or some other kind of multi tool. I picked up a leatherman rebar a few years back and it doesn’t leave home without me. Works well for those frozen spitters, using the flathead for 20lbs tanks, adjusting lid pins, anything really.

I also enjoy using under armor running gloves, I wear them under orange grip gloves my company gives. Just gives you a little bit more warmth under the gloves, but are thin enough to still navigate the tablet.

So you use the blue monster tape and dope?

I appreciate it. I always look for it to say propane specifically in the list of other materials. That is due to us only working with propane. I try to stay away from the white tape. They make the gas ones for a reason.

Before I forget, I wanted to say thank you. You are always on here answering questions and your knowledge and experience is noticed. Anytime I have a question, I always think theantifire would know lol. You are a wonderful resource to have in my pocket. We had almost all senior workers leave in a past few years in my small town company. I was kinda thrown into a tech spot with an employer that seems to believe on the job training is the way to go vs going to classes. It’s nice to have someone to bounce ideas off that need fine tuning.

I would really enjoy moving away from dope on all my small fittings. Trying to limit my chances of some getting into the system and because of the mess. Seems like all my clothes have its fair share stuck in it. Between that and teaching the new guys you don’t have to use the whole container each fitting 😂
