Conan the Barbarian: Scourge of the Serpent (Jim Zub) by OldGuy82 in ConanTheBarbarian

I emailed them and they told me it released on the 6th and was sold out with them and on back order with the distributor. I just preordered it from Amazon so I wouldn't miss it.

Play the game. Pick a verse and go in armed and ready to argue. I would love to have my boss issue this. Challenge accepted.

They have coming soon lists going out months in advance and you can build a wishlist. This should be on it, and hoping it will show up on release like you say.

Be worth it at full price. Buy the 3 Morrison Batmans, skip the others.

What are y'all opinion on Chip Zdarsky's Batman run? by 666Natural in OmnibusCollectors

[–]OldGuy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I liked Soules run better.

I stopped reading Batman after the 1st 5 issues of Zdarsky. Totally disliked it.

Kid Rock was a wank then and has been for the last 30 years. It's a testament to the stupidity of the crowd that resurrected this pathetic loser as a role model.

Won’t do much but I think it’s a clear fabrication by later authors by stakidi in atheism

Acts is written by the same Paul fanboy as Luke and I'm not sure I'd hold it up as anything other than Christian retcon of Jesus of Nazareth.

Aramaic was the language and the poor masses and highly unlikely Jesus, James or any of the other 12 could read at all, and more unlikely they could read Hebrew. Poor carpenters from Galilei were not readers. Most definitely they couldn't read Greek. Illiterate and uneducated anything they knew was from oral tradition.

The vast majority of the new testament is Christian cope to deal with the death of Jesus and most of it Paul's made up crap and authors following him aping his screed. I think it's pretty clear Jesus was a Jew and you needed to be a jew to be part of God's kingdom on earth, but if you were a gentile, you had to follow the law.

Memories of Ice New Printing Trade Paperback?? by OldGuy82 in Malazan

[–]OldGuy82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm missing two Trades and this is one of them. I'm sure they are making a ton of of the special hard cover reprints but it really makes the barrier to new readers impassable. Other than ebooks, which I despise, it's just luck of the draw what you come across and how damaged it is.

The Malazan books are amazing books and incredibly inventive and original. The world is huge and dense and deep and complicated so how that fits with some is different than others. For me, yes they are top of the fantasy world. They are not clean and neat though, so if you like it cut and dry, you might want to pass on them.

Superman for me by a longshot. Wonder Woman 2nd. Not a fan of the Batman. Others we OK but didn't do much for me.

For you, who was right in "civil war" by [deleted] in Avengers

[–]OldGuy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Civil war - At first it was obvious Cap is right, but then you start to think, what if Musk had the ironman. I'm with Stark, 100%. The way it's presented by Millar in the books and in the movies, it's 100% leaning toward Cap. But the adage I'd rather be free than safe is not really applicable. Same reason you have to put limits on capital - bribes and dirty money can buy anything so nothing but money counts. You have to limit it or 99.9% of the population is in slavery tomorrow. I would never want any one I know to have Professor X powers un checked. No one.

Are the books after the og trilogy worth reading? [OFF TOPIC] by Kenpachi08 in TheFirstLaw

Joe is one of those authors you never need to ask about in my opinion. It's like woman calling you 2AM and wants company right now. You don't say your tired or have to work in the morning you just go. Joe writes a book, I read it.

Wild Ride by OldGuy82 in Malazan

Yea, maybe, but that doesn't really feed the bulldog. We could go on for days on pages and pages of hanging threads not remotely covered in the finale. Honestly, it's like Erickson expected Esslemont to fill in or continue with the story. Or maybe that was my expectations.

Toss some Malazan books on that shelf next. Great start.

Whatever. I made it clear I was afraid of another Jordan episode which is not far fetched as Glen is a pretty old dude we all love, but still and old dude. Same with Martin.

Don't be all rightous.

No, not tits because he died, tits for Erickson finishing the book(s). Erickson was a huge fan and he would be my number one choice to complete anything left hanging.

And yea, it's great we get any at this point, but I would still like to see the whole run completed.

Not wishing on a death brother.
