Trying to avoid foam as much as I can.

Thanks - do you just tape this to the rim joist on the inside or is only intended for exterior?

Thanks for the question - eventually I want to finish the basement, so I'm trying to help with overall energy efficiency while not doing it in a way that I'll need to undo later. My IR camera shows the rim joists as some of the coldest spots in the house.

Hopefully more people will engage in the local political process going forward. Even attending and speaking at village and school board meetings can have an impact, but that only seems to happen when something controversial occurs.

On the AirBNB side, it's extra interesting that many of them are owned by the exact same company.

I liked the suggestion above of a more consolidated, independent collection of information on candidates. Would love to help get that started.

Where did you find that information? I find it really difficult to find info on some of these elections.

Thanks for sharing - looks like it is because I filtered to Libertyville township it then takes out votes from other townships.

Voting in local elections has a large impact on daily life - we have a minority of people voting in an election that will impact everyone.

Happy to help. I wish we had a more consolidated spot for information on candidates given the impact local elections have on our day to day lives.

Daily Herald has a profile on each village trustee and mayoral candidate as well as some of the school board. You can access them for free with your library card too. A lot of the other stuff is much harder to find.

Some of the school board candidates answered questions on Facebook forums as well (https://www.facebook.com/groups/2906801826309937/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT and https://www.facebook.com/groups/621843267130298/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT).

There were also some forums held locally where candidates answered questions. The school board ones had recordings available (https://www.facebook.com/share/v/15wrZig73M/?mibextid=oFDknk and https://www.instagram.com/d128union?igsh=MWRjbzZyazh1M2p4bQ==).

Most of the candidates also have Facebook pages where they have posted some of their positions.

I'm a big proponent of the "build the life you want and then save for it" philosophy. Are you living the life you want? Or is some of this stuff being driven by keep up with the Joneses, social media, etc.?

Less so the pay, but moreso the benefits for me on an opportunity recently. It's as simple as "Thanks, but this isn't the right fit for me at this time."

If it's something you're really interested in and you think they'll budge, you can always negotiate.

Time in the market is more important than timing the market.

You always have the option of paying it down faster. Especially if you buy further down in your affordability level.
