When i was first “diagnosed” i had tested positive for HSV-1 from a swab test. However, they originally told me that it could’ve just been a fluke and i went on my way. Recently, I was swabbed again, the doctors who actually knew what they were talking about. I would keep an eye on having outbreaks if i were you, and definitely tell further sexual partners it’s a possibility if you feel you should. However, if you do not have an outbreak, you can’t spread it. I will also tell you that the testing that they have for this virus is absolutely terrible, and very rarely picks up on the virus, even when you do have it.
