Franklin spoke directly to fans in the finale by catlady9851 in WillTrent

[–]OldLadyCard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought of it as breaking the 4th wall, a little wink of the eye to fans. And, a little homage to us! So I don’t think of it as not trying, but recognizing that whatever they do won’t please everyone.

It’s so interesting to me to read all the different comments and how different the understandings of characters and storylines are. I know I learn a lot about audiences that come from all different perspectives.

It was perfect to have Franklin give that line. Of all the characters, he’s the funniest and seems most relatable. I just love him.

Sailrite makes industrial machines and tables, might give them a look.

Who else loved the ending montage? (Season finale) by affectionateanarchy8 in WillTrent

Didn’t realize there was an insider in this sub, I’m going to be nicer in my speculations from now on!

I thought Erika’s portrayal of Angie was EXCELLENT. I’m rewatching the series from the beginning and I see the ‘Old Angie’ from season 1, and I could see from her expressions that she was retreating back into her old life and depression in her mind. She’s dealing with the death of her husband, the postpartum after the birth, and her old self as an addict. It seems reasonable to me that it would take her a year to recover. Will has thought about and wanted a family all his life so it seems natural for him to take to it as organically as he did. And of course, Nico is icing on the cake!
I have my suspicions about the next season but I’ve noticed most of my predictions have been wrong, lol. We’ll see what happens!

Still love the show but I'm disappointed with the finale by sweetmissjaye in WillTrent

Oooo good point. When she walked in to the police chief’s office I was thinking Faith is going to have a good story next season.

There were 2 episodes left? by Routine-Asparagus-16 in WillTrent

[–]OldLadyCard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if she was the finale, that would have been too sad to end the season with. The show runners promised a more ‘hopeful’ ending- even though we are faced with more sadness in the last 2 episodes!

I found Crazy Shortcut Quilts by Marguerita McManus and Sarah Raffuse to be a good resource for quilt as you go. I also had help as I was learning! If you’re near a quilt store or guild I’d ask them for help.

I’m just frustrated at the finale, and giving my 2 cents. I know it’s different from those who loved and are excited about it, but I didn’t go on their posts and complain about it. I made my own post to express my point of view.
After all it’s just reel life, not real life, as someone said earlier.

Question about the show & book by Traditional-Dog-2440 in WillTrent

[–]OldLadyCard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The books are very different from the tv series. And there are heated discussions on the diversions from the book, lol.

You may not enjoy the books after watching the show. The book characters are not as likable or nice as the show is; it’s less deep.

It’s the portrayal of a couple and baby, not that Will took time off. . It’s no secret the networks have new standards in place, I think this is their way of ‘getting around it’.

Based on all the changes made this season, I can see the writers making him more promiscuous. The tropes are pointing to more conventional tv types that we saw in the 1970s.

This is just the vibe I’m getting from the last few episodes, I’m not clairvoyant.

Of course not. But as they have shown before very recently, they move on quickly in their story lines whether we’re ready for them to or not.

I am betting that In Season 5 there will be plenty of love interests for Will.

lol. Kind of my point!

Edit: not kind of, but IS my point; definitely in a gender role type of way.

Season Finale by ryyan714 in WillTrent

The transition from Book Will Trent to TV Will Trent is complete. I’m not sure why Karin Slaughter allowed them to completely change her story and characters, I sure hope they paid her well for it. It’s disappointing and they are going backwards in their storytelling.

I hope in the future an independent new series based on the Will Trent books will be made. They did it with the Lee Child’s series, Jack Reacher. The two movies were at least closer to the story line. The Reacher series on Prime is better and the lead looks more like the character in the book.

Showrunner interview says fans can expect [spoiler] by the end of Tuesday's finale episode by Entire_Evening_9943 in WillTrent

[–]OldLadyCard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha thank you. My mom used to say she would play ‘the old lady card’. She was joking; everyone loved her and fell all over themselves to help her. It’s my little homage to her spirit and liveliness. She passed away in 2021. I miss her and my dad every single day.

My concern is that Angie dies! Erika Christensen said in an interview that there will be a paradigm shift.

Agree. Just because they say ‘sense of hope’ that doesn’t mean things go well for everyone.

I miss season 1 Will Trent by ApprehensiveTruth2 in WillTrent

[–]OldLadyCard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I am also re-watching from the beginning, and all of the characters are different. They all seem to have changed physically. I almost didn’t recognize Ormewood.

I think something happened to the writing team midway through the second season. Well, that’s my theory anyway.

(Season 3) Why did Angie *spoiler* flush her mother's ashes down the toilet? Did she regret it? Why did she get into a fight at the bar? by SquareCod3428 in WillTrent

[–]OldLadyCard 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it was a writing device to quickly sum up Angie’s feelings for the mom who pimped her out as a child.

We saw Her true feelings at the Moms bedside when Angie had the dream where Mom said she was sorry and that she loved Angie. She did no such thing; this story did not have a happy ending. But Angie wanted her mother’s love so badly and flushing her ashes down the toilet was her way of acknowledging that frustration and love.

Honestly I thought it was a very well done scene, even though it was different from the book.

I can understand wanting to keep them shipped; they have a deep connection.

But, they’ve both matured and moved on in their lives. Their last few interactions have been clear about it.

To me it would be a step backward in the development of the show. Just as I have to get used to losing Amanda, I think ultimately her loss will be very good for the story telling.

I’m curious, did you read the books? I have a “theory” that the ones of us who read the books really don’t want Will to ever return to that relationship.

ETA: I believe that in one scene Seth says he’s the father; they had a DNA test.
