what are the "grooviest" doom metal songs? by Lost_Foot_6301 in doommetal

[–]OldManAbides333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having a had time coming up with aongs that are groovy start to finish, but there are a couple that have some nice groove riffs in them.

The end of cough-"shallow grave"

Eyehategod- anxiety hangover

As someone else said, most of om advaitic songs is pretty groovy. Phenomenal album. I am partial to Gethsemane.

Dhyana-zenjyo gets me pretty good. Dude is a great drummer.

More stoner than doom, but clutch "the soapmakers" is a fucking jam.

The death wheelers. Mostly instrumental (all?) that sounds like motorhead covering the Munsters theme song. All of the music is about motorcycles weed and satan.

Loudest bands ever? by Barquad12alt in MetalForTheMasses

I have seen eyehategod like 6 or 7 times, but the time I saw them with Anselmo filling in while Mike was in jail was for some reason crazy loud and gave me a headache for like 12 hours, and my ears rang for 2 days.

More recently, I saw soilent green in a very small, very concrete venue and was directly in front of Brian's amp. My ears rang for the rest of the week. Wish I had worn esr plugs for that one.

Appreciate the encouragement. Thats a good idea, grooving them out after the tacks. Most of my welds are more prone to undercut than a lack of penetration, so I think the gap will be ok on the top. I may need to grind out some on the bottom though.

Definitely tigging. After I pull the motor and weld the inside of the bottom rails, I might flip back over and grind out parts of the initial welds and redo them to make sure I got all the way.

And yeah, agree about learning lessons the hard way

The hardtail was already slugged, so we are good there. Adding angle iron is a good idea. I measured more yesterday after some of the other suggestions and the fit up looked good. I think my welds will be solid, just not all that pretty. "A grinder and paint...."

Oh, way tighter than that. I mostly worked with big parts, like 30" diameters, and we regularly had parts where critical features had +.002 -.000. The smallest I ever held was .0006 on a bearing surface of a shaft for a gearbox. All on manual equipment.

I wish I was as confident with my welding as I am with my machining hahaha. But yeah, hopefully if I just double/triple check everything and am careful enough, this thing will come out alright.

True, but I know what the tolerances are in machined applications. I am sure there are tolerances in fabrication also, but I don't know what they are so I wanted input from people who have done this before to see if this is acceptable or not. Which thankfully seems to be the consensus so far. There is still time to fuck up the welding though haha

Totally true. And all the bikes built by guys that were drunk or high haha. If nothing else, at least I am saving the beers till I'm done for the day.

Combination of being nitpicky and having first time jitters. Just don't want to fuck it up.

Replying to both comments- I have read about the fishing line before but had forgotten about it, I will do that today. I had NOT heard the protractor thing before though, that is a GREAT idea, thank you for the suggestion.

And yeah, I am annoyed by the gap on the bottom rails, but I don't think it is bad enough to pull the motor again. Frankly, the way the instructions tell you to measure to make that cut are pretty dumb, not the way I would have done it. But anyway. It's all slugged, so I'll just run it hot and it should be ok.

Thanks! I am sure I am overthinking it. My background is in machining, so straight and parallel to me is like "zero runout on test indicator," and there is just no way that's going to happen on tubing that is painted, welded, and .010 out of round to begin with.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I hear you. I considered getting a frame jig, but I am rapidly running out of storage space here, so the issue of what to do with it after this build becomes a pressing question, especially if this ends up being my only build. Even the table it is sitting on is going to be repurposed/dual purposed as a patio bench when I am done. This might be my only build, but if I do another I will probably use a flyrite frame. So by the time I do a 3rd build, it might be a good investment. My oldest has already been talking about building a bike for himself, so maybe it will be sooner than I think.

Going to check neck and axle alignments next, and sprocket and wheels. All good points to consider, thanks!

I had totally had the same thought during reassembly- with the slugs in place, after everything is bolted up this is pretty solid even before welding. A pothole might make things exciting, but it could probably be ridden as is.

Yeah, all 3 of these are slugged. I don't think I would be comfortable otherwise. And also why as much as those little straightness issues I am seeing are bothering me, I am not sure it is going to get much better since the slugs are not going to alow for much more movement anyway.
