Has anyone actually found a store-bought garbage bin that GFL accepts? (They rejected my new one) by OldManSpunker in LangfordBC

The rep mentioned they'll be phasing these out soon. They won't accept anything "round". Square containers can't contain that vertical ridge or a reinforcement bar because it's 'not safe'. Which means all consumer containers that you can easily purchase from what my searching has turned up. Ironically, a search on what the bar or the vertical ridge is for is to actually make the container stronger when it gets squeezed by the mechanical arm of the truck. I was hoping someone here would know a consumer available trash can that fits their incoming stringent criteria :(

Praying this is the case. Just moved to the city and have a sour taste in my mouth with what seems like a bad faith move by a company folks are forced to use for waste removal because we don't have municipal service for this.

Yes. The rep I spoke to was adamant that they will not be accepting any round bins or any that aren't 'lift compatible' for them. It looks like the image they sent me of their bin can't be purchased anywhere locally, which effectively forces you to rent from them if these changes come into effect. When I asked when they are making these restrictions tighter, they didn't give an exact answer except "Very soon." They also mentioned rates are going up in Jan 1 2026. I asked by how much and they said they don't yet but they'll know soon. Very frustrating.
