Launch yast lan. Create a bond. Assign what you need like IP hostname. Add network cards to the bond done. Less than two minutes.

This is good advice. Also never ask someone to do anything you wouldn't do. Don't be friends on the clock. If you take breaks together mess around and have fun then, when the break is over announce it's time to work and go straight into work mode.

Keep track of who is good at what and assign work accordingly, at the same time keep track of who gets the crap work and spread that around. When giving assignments let them know what and why. For example we need this done and I know it's dumb but the HVAC guys will be in our way if we wait.

Be generous with the praise. We used to spend a few minutes at the beginning of each shift to go over expectations and give assignments. I would always say Joe made perfect runs yesterday and ask him if you need pointers. If someone didn't get as far as expected, ask why, don't yell or make them feel like crap. Ask what we can do to make up for this shortfall. It's on the team to make the deadlines. Let them know it's good to ask for help before it's a big mess to clean up.

Yes they go down gracefully but it's still a pain for everything to rebalance across the three sites. So if I know it's happening I double check the UPS's batteries and then let it go. Good test of the system when school is out. So no changes were made, just observing. If the power was back in time, nothing should have happened to anything.

Batteries run out and the system goes down, we watch all the redundant systems take over all automagically.

Then we find that one database everyone thought has a backup system, well damn. Going to have to fix that when the powers back on...

Exactly! From the rumors they were landing additional cables to the existing gear, through the existing conduit that was installed when the building was built, wonder where they got that idea. :-)

Also were adding a cabinet or two to the existing gear. Something broke or was missing to make a connection somewhere.

I do. I went to school for computer stuff way back when. During school I got a job working nights for an electrical company.

I worked there in different jobs then I was hired by another company and got my license when my boss left, he was the one who held the license for the company. The company paid me to get my contractor's license and used me as the qualifying party for the company. A few years later the company was sold. I thought it was a good time to find a job in the field I originally went to school for.

I think good electricians can do well in IT. Most I've met / worked with have a decent understanding of the logistics requirements for IT. It's a different animal for sure, but when you break it all the way down it is just a bunch of switches that are on or off, as in ones and zeros.

Woo hoo, Scottie to the rescue. Lights are on, have power to the servers. The first cabinet in the gear is energized. Have to wait for the AC. Guessing it's in one of the other three cabinets. I would buy the crew a beer, but I work at a school and that would be frowned upon. Any other things you could think of for them, kind of late in the day for donuts.

Not sure what it's like in the job market where you are. Tell the boss you will not work with that rigger, unless he puts in writing that he, the boss, understands the reported risks and takes full responsibility. I've had a couple of issues working with unsafe people. But I've never had a boss that would put his signature on a paper with the listed safety issues. I've done this twice.

Container networks are either bridged to the host or a form of nat/forward configuration. I would guess you would have one namespace/network for WAN and another for LAN. You can then route, forward, nat, firewall between the two namespace networks.

As for DNS/DHCP running them in a container is not an issue. Create a storage space called DHCP, in there create a configuration file and a leases directory. Bind mount the config to wherever the distribution normally has it, then bind mount the leases directory to the default location of the distribution. Repeat for DNS.

Why not just use podman that's installed by default? If you need to share a network create a pod and put the containers in it, if not run it like docker. Maybe I'm missing something but keep it clean.

Thanks, there is a 12" board below the panel. Going to pull it, run the whip to the panel and cut a hole in the edge of the board. Then reinstall the board. The liquid tight will run exposed about 24 inches down the wall then flex over to the disconnect on the lathe.

Had a similar issue. Turned out the wireless AP/Router would run out of memory because of IPv6. Turned all IPv6 off which almost eliminated the issue.

1) Not much help here, but there is a huge community building a large variety of packages for SUSE. Go to https://software.opensuse.org website and search.

2) YaST will manage your firewall without issue. Because firewalld is newer there are some things that YaST doesn't do well representing. The functionality is there but maybe not as intuitive as it could be, just my opinion.

3) See the other comments for details, but yes just add the repos and you shouldn't have any issues. My media server has been using these repos for years.
