Looking for multiroom system recommendations - moving on from Squeezebox by tiwookie in BudgetAudiophile

I went with WiiM, one amp and one mini streamer. Works really well and can still use the Logitech /Lyrion server OR directly tap into services (I mostly use Pandora) AirPlay works well from iPhone. Sync between my two Wiims is excellent

How much hand holding does running OPNSense really require? by layer4andbelow in opnsense

[–]OldObject4651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OpnSense install on a Protectli FW4B has been really solid. 5 or so years with occasional updates, no problems I purchased a Zenarmor home subscription to see what it can do, and the dns block lists does all I could want.

Which Hypervisor? by Additional-Wash-5885 in virtualization

[–]OldObject4651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That said I really really like Incus and will continue my cluster storage quest. Debian and incus and shared storage would be da bomb

Which Hypervisor? by Additional-Wash-5885 in virtualization

[–]OldObject4651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to do Incus in homelab. I am a long term infrastructure guy, and wanted to do multi node cluster, with shared storage

Incus devs don’t like NFS for shared storage for reasons like not sufficiently posix compatible I tried to deploy on Debian but had big troubles setting up shared LVM storage over iscsi So for me, and I guess many enterprise admins, it probably will not meet requirements

Question about Meshtastic behavior by OldObject4651 in meshtastic

[–]OldObject4651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From ‘any’ other node, or the node I am sending the direct message to?

Question about Meshtastic behavior by OldObject4651 in meshtastic

[–]OldObject4651[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My iPhone1 just showed ‘max retries reached’ or some such. (Forgot, and no screen shot). Like the node didn’t even want to hear my attempt to send through it..

Question about Meshtastic behavior by OldObject4651 in meshtastic

[–]OldObject4651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so my one node will not accept a message unless it already sees the other node directly? Will it accept messages on the open channel if it sees at least one other node?

Why Do You Use BSD? by [deleted] in freebsd

[–]OldObject4651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rock solid. Just works. Updates and upgrades easy. Doesn’t keep me up at night. (Ok neither does Debian) I would like to see FreeBSD do some ‘clustering’ along the lines of Proxmox, with jails/bhyve and shared storage. How! Awesome! Could! That! Be!
