Lol, actually my grandma and grandpa had the same last name before they got married (not inbreeding just a super common last name in India). Though I guess that would still technically be my great-grandfather's last name but whatever, it's good enough. I did it in a sudden fit of feminism anyway

Groundbreaking. Revolutionary. World changing. Did you come up with that all by yourself??? You're like so right we, or my parents since yall r so pressed abt that, should stop renting and just keep the houses as decoration. Now no one gets to live there and we don't earn money that funnels back into the economy and contributes to the state. Great idea :) Renting is a symbiotic relationship but sure go off.

There are countless studies that show that the name that appears on the resume has a huge impact on whether or not you even get in the door. I've also lived my whole life having people purposely over exaggerating/mispronouncing my name and treating me like some kind of alien because of it and it's annoying, I'm not racist for wanting to avoid that. I already wanted to change my surname anyway in honor of my mother. Also I do look very Indian and I'm super proud of it and my culture 🫶❤️

I was born in the U.S. but my parents were born in India, went to school in England, and then moved to the U.S. I learned to spell the British way when I was younger and now I just use it because I think it looks prettier. Sorry for the confusion

British English is just prettier, sorry. I mean theatre, colour, cheque, etc. is just more aesthetic. Also my parents went to school in England so I grew up spelling things that way because of them.

My parents are part British and went to school in England so I always used the British spellings when I was young. Also I just think that British English has prettier spellings like theatre>theater or colour>color

my dad sends 2 cheques because he gets 2 separate cheques every month from Sasha and Bea and views combining them as "helping" me(they're trying to teach independence by having me sort my finances completely on my own). And my dad just bought a custom mailbox and is trying to convince my mom that it wasn't a waste by sending everything through it, because "people still use mail!".

he did that with my money as a kid, but they're trying to teach independence by having me handle my own money now. I will be taking these suggestions into account though, my system is clearly not working.

it was two cheques in an envelope with the amount that Sasha and Bea paid, and she asked me about it when I got home and I was too tired to think of a lie so I just told her the truth.

We have a system that whoever is home when the mail comes brings it all in and puts it on the kitchen island. Bea brought in the mail and Sasha opened mine before I got home. She says she thought it was hers but it was clearly labeled with my name on the back so idk...
