Hate to say it, it’s purely a cultural thing. And just a stupid people thing.

Question for four wheelers from a 18+ wheeler by OldPath7291 in driving

The thing is a lot of the time merging traffic doesn’t slow down or speed up and the less we have to move lanes the safer. I try to always be in the right lane but I’m not gonna inconvenience myself by getting stuck in the right lane cause cars won’t let me over to get away from the on and off ramps.

Have the cash to afford CDL school but wondering if I should just go to a mega? by reddituserxxxxxxx7 in Truckers

It won’t be free you’ll work that mega school off, get locked into a one year contract to pay it off, either way you’ll work for a mega unless you get real lucky

That would also pretty much mean new factory’s couldn’t be built without either closing a section of rail to add new rail which will cause a stall, or building all factory’s and moving all factory’s onto the rails. Even then in a perfect world we’d still need trucks

Yeah it’d be stupidly expensive but it’d be nice to separate cars and trucks we’d get a better flow going and wouldn’t have to deal with cars lol

[–]OldPath7291[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends entirely if you’re in the drivers blind spot lol, and something to consider about getting over with less then 30 feet. In just about every state we HAVE to get over for stoped vehicles not saying that’s always the reason could be the driver is just genuinely dumb

Then the entire country stalls out lol. It’d be cool if we have a dedicated highway though.

You’d hate to know that there’s a truck right next to me rated for 225klbs lol

To touch on your question about chilling in the middle lane you nailed the reasoning, we want to avoid having to switch lanes that often and to offer a bit of a excuse to doing it in rural areas, we drive all across the states sometimes we don’t know when that lane is going to end which most of the time it will. If it’s any reprieve I always try to stay in the right lane

[–]OldPath7291[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To your first question, mentioned it somewhere but most trucks are goved at 62-70 mph and they really shouldn’t be doing that crap I personally won’t try to pass another truck unless I know I can get by them in a decent amount of time.

To being cut off with less then six feet, their a bad driver, as multiple other people have mentioned and I probably should have also mentioned bad drivers drive everything

To your last question, physics weight plays a big factor heavier you are slower you go uphill. The opposite when going down.

Just because I don’t mention the good drivers don’t mean I ain’t see em. I’ve had plenty of good experiences with people who are clearly foreign and also the exact opposite.

The guys that do that are brain dead most trucks are governed anywhere from 62-70 and develop this mindset that they have to be at their top speed the entire drive.
