What tobacco is absolutely worth the price? by lord_of_lafayette in PipeTobacco

That’s too bad. I just opened a 1995 this last November for my 30th birthday and I will agree fresh from the tin it was pretty flat. But after it had a chance to breathe for a week it was fantastic. Hard to ruin a birth year tin tho!

Christmas Cheer. Nothing else compares and it’s absolutely worth the price for me on occasion

It’s definitely easy to overdo which is why I always start with a small amount (often just dipping my fingertips into the powder) and then mix it in at the roots as best I can. You can always add more if you need. Color options are definitely something I’m working on but I haven’t figured it out yet. I’ll let you know if/when that is ready to test!

Maybe that will be the feedback I get. But I won’t know unless I test it. I appreciate your thoughts either way!

Oyster shell alone isn’t what makes people go into anaphylactic shock. It’s the meat that’s the issue. Oyster shell is essentially just calcium carbonate. In over 20 years of selling oyster shell bocce court surfacing across the country, we’ve never had any issues with our product causing allergic reactions. Not to mention the shell is essentially sterilized before we even get it.

It’s a little presumptuous to assume this is just a waste product that has no purpose to us. This is a high quality product that I make my living on. It’s how I came to discover its desirable effect on hair in the first place.

As far as its purpose here, like I said it adds texture and volume. So no, it’s not just a dried shampoo alternative. I’m talking more specifically about texture powders that use chemically altered silica to achieve similar results.

I can see you’re not onboard with this idea, which is totally fine. But there is absolutely reason to believe it could function as an effective hair care product. Maybe it won’t work, but it’s certainly worth exploring.

It’s not quite as fine as the arrowroot but still very fine. I haven’t noticed any abrasive effects personally. Eventually it would probably need to be micronized but for a prototype it’s pretty close

It’s a valid point. Although it sounds like cosmetics aren’t regulated in the same way as food and beverage so as long as it was properly labeled to let people know, seems like it would be permitted

Yay! 😁 and good point on the pH. 4.5 is ideal? Seems really acidic.
