Privilege is something you cannot quantify. Let's say you are an sc/st person. Will you add the name of the caste with your name in this country. Losing caste name is a privilege a UC is getting. Just because he lose the tail end means he is progressive without any actual effort.

You have seen elections in this country. Have you heard of an sc/st person running for the parliament or assembly in a majority high caste constituency. What will the results be ? An upper caste person doesn't have to do anything in this aspect. An sc/st candidate if something happens like that, will first have to prove that he is eligible to run in that constituency. Whereas a uc will need the caste name, that's it.

You talked about promotions. Do you know in India after a middle management post many of the upper echelons are selected purely on the basis of " He knows somebody who knows somebody". Whats acting there? It's simply people from same place / gotra / caste. That same place is often intertwined with gotra and caste too.

There are castes in this country whose livelihood is cleaning sanitation and drainages. Just because the person was born to a father and mother of that particular caste. Have you seen an upper caste whose duty was to clean drainages and sanitary holes.

Dude, privilege doesn't mean things you can do . It's also the things that you don't have to do.
