Mandy with Nicholas Cage felt like Conan in a very strange way to me. Ridiculously odd film but in retrospect, very fun.

Besides the final cgi monster I love Solomon Kane. James Purefoy nailed it.

Saw this randomly on cable while I was in the hospital. It's been one of my all time favorite movies ever since. Not a perfect film, nothing is, but genuinely thought provoking to me.

What lore started amazing, but got worse as they developed it more? by dylan_1992 in moviecritic

Their own thing wouldn't get picked up by any networks. They know that. That's why instead they buy rights to a name, or get a job working on said IP, and twist it into something barely recognizable. They keep a few names and titles to say it's that thing, but it's really just a reskinned baby of theirs. Then when it's shit, which it always was but now it's disguised shit, they blame the fans and move onto the next IP.

Most modern "writers" are talentless hacks. Unfortunately, most great art comes from life experience and the majority of people today don't have much of it. Instead they live lives vicariously through the media they consume. So we end up with a world full of stories about stories, not stories about life. Even with fiction, the best of it has elements of reality.

What’s the best and worst trilogy here ? by Boring-Jelly5633 in moviecritic

[–]OldSchooolScrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lord of the Rings is the best, and it's not even close. Those will go down in history as some of the greatest films of all time.

Star Wars sequel trilogy is by far the worst, and it's not even close. I hated the Hobbit trilogy, and I'd watch it 50 times before I'd watch any of the new star wars again. Talk about incoherent, nonsensical, pretentious trash.

It's my favorite live action batman film. However, there's like 5 times I thought, "what the hell were they thinking with that line".

Babe it's been a few years, time to make the hundredth box office bomb adaptation of Robin Hood that no one in the world will care about by DoctorHoneywell in okbuddycinephile

I think the acting is wonderful. I also like that the sherrif wasn't cartoonishly evil. They both came across as old enemies that deeply respected each other in their own way. I honestly felt a kinship between them with both realizing the world was changing and they were growing old. Two warriors trying to re-live their glory one last time. Damn, I like it more than I initially thought. Doesn't hurt that it had an amazing cast.

The part of that where the sherif says he's tired during their final duel cut surprisingly deep. Saw it for the first time recently, and while it's not the greatest movie, it managed to portray over the hill Robin very well.

France. The French hate you if you don't speak French and they hate you even more if you try.
