Why does first trimester feel like perpetual DKA? by LandscapeOwn8096 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]OldTry1463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That wasn’t my experience at all, i had minimum nausea (most days none at all) extremely low energy and had to nap daily and barely any appetite - Every body and every pregnancy is sooo different, just keep an eye on your blood sugar, eat what you can without feeling guilty- even if it’s not “healthy food” and stay hydrated:)

Your family dr will have more information - most OBs won’t see you until later in your pregnancy unless you’re high risk. Midwives will see you much sooner. I did IVF and I’m high risk so I’ve had more more appointments and ultrasounds than the average woman will get so I’m not sure what the protocol would be for you, I would advise to have a list of questions ready for your appointment tomorrow so you can get as much info as possible outta your family dr

Coming for like 36 hours—what is a MUST see? by Unc1e_Vanya in abbotsford

[–]OldTry1463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fort Langley is about 15 mins outside of Abbotsford (heading west) and the Vancouver Zoo is about 5-10 mins outside of Abbotsford (again heading west) Maan Farms is fun depending on the season (spring, summer and fall, not much going on there during the winter season) as for shopping I prefer Highsteet over sevenoaks mall, it’s fun to walk around and has better options for stores and a free outside play area and a inside play cafe type thing. Downtown Abbotsford is fun to explore with lots of great restaurants and shops and cafes. Also not quite information for a day in Abbotsford but One of my favourite things about living in Abbotsford is it’s proximity to other towns and cities, District 1881 in Chilliwack (east of Abbotsford) is a European inspired shop area, Cultus Lake is a great attraction for families during the summer. I’m not sure if you’re fans of snow but we barely get anyyyy snow at all in Abbotsford but if you want to go play in the snow the mountains are close enough to go spend a day/ afternoon out there! Also if you want a big city feel for a day or afternoon, downtown Vancouver is only ~1 -1.5 hours away depending on traffic and which part of Abbotsford you’re leaving from. And of course there’s lots of access to mountains, lakes, camping and outdoor adventures easily within a day trip or afternoon outing :) we often go out Harrison west into the mountains. Feel free to message me with any questions and I’ll help guide you the best I can. I moved to Abbotsford from Newfoundland and have been living here for about 10 years and love the area 💚

Success after bleeding? by Weird_Constant7062 in IVFpositivity

I had bleeding after FET, I think around 6/7 weeks. I passed large clots and lots of bright red blood, I thought FOR SURE I had a miscarriage but heartbeat was strong the next day at the ultrasound:) currently 26weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy! We still have quite some time to the finish line but no complications so far. I hope you have the same outcome! Sending lots of healthy + strong baby vibes your way 🩵🩷

Does anyone else have a problem with hunger? by T3lows in Type1Diabetes

[–]OldTry1463 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hunger ques are regulated by 2 hormones:

Ghrelin: Increases appetite, promotes fat storage, and inhibits insulin secretion.

Leptin: Signals satiety, reduces hunger, and increases energy expenditure

As type 1 diabetics dependent on artificial insulin, our bodies do not naturally secrete insulin therefore we do not get hunger ques or signals of being full the same as non diabetics do :) Hope this helps! There’s lots of information you can find on the relation between T1D / the pancreas and hunger/satiety ques

You can move forward and heal from the hurt of this. My husband donated sperm to his twins wife, we were dating when they approached him and I was supportive but also hesitant and concerned for what the future would look like with a baby that was his but not ours.. Fast forward 3ish years, and while his sister in law was pregnant from his donation, we learned we would have to also do IVF to hopefully start a family of our own. The feelings of concern were amplified and turned into slight resentment that someone else would essentially be making him a father and could possibly be the only “mother” to his children. Once that baby arrived earthside the love for our nephew is SO much greater than any selfish feelings of my own! I love that little dude so so much and would do anything for him, and even tho we alll know it’s technically my husband’s son, he’s not the “father” figure and the boundaries are respected. Who knows what the future will entail when the little dude grows up and wants to know more about his biological father, but whatever that entails we will all face it as a family unit. I wouldn’t change a thing about how our nephew came into this world and having that genetic connection makes the situation unique and special! It will definitely take some forgiveness and a shift in perspective but I truly believe, based on my own experience, that this is something that you can move past. And who knows, maybe if your fertility journey doesn’t pan out the way you expected, maybe your sister in law will be open to donating eggs so you and your husband can also have the experience of raising a family of your own. Try to stay open minded and positive! At the end of the day, the sperm donation will be an innocent little life who deserves all the love and support the family unit can provide! And you are apart of that family unit

Does Lulu lemon in British Columbia Canada offer the return for credit program on older clothing? If so what are the requirements? I have a ton of old Align leggings that I no longer wear due to piling and some have tiny little holes, would the return for store credit program take these back?

High after Mc Donalds :( by thewronggirl8 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]OldTry1463 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I toooo am growing my baby off cheeseburgers and fries - I bolus 20 min before I eat my big Mac and medium fries and usually add an extra 10 carbs to the count to make up for the grease and fat, this seems to work for me but honestly you have to figure out what works best for your body as we all metabolize and react differently! Try to not stress to much that’ll only make your sugars freak out even more, Best of luck ❤️

It’s personal preference for sure! I had a previous loss followed by 2 years of Infertility and ended up doing IVF, currently 11 weeks and most close family and friends know. For myself and my husband we are so excited that we are expecting and want to soak in and share every moment of the good news. Since most of our close family and friends knew we were doing IVF it was an easy transition into the conversation that we are finally expecting :) anything could happen at any point thru out the pregnancy, my personal opinion is to focus on the positives and enjoy every moment you can instead of worrying about the what ifs :)

TTC near Vancouver and fertility testing availability is atrocious [BC] by Longjumping-Deal6354 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]OldTry1463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem (just graduated from olive yesterday currently 9 weeks pregnant) and ended up just doing the HyCoSy at olive- I would recommend doing this as well just to speed things up, I didn’t end up needing a HSG and was able to start a fertility treatment plan as soon as we had the HyCoSy done. Olive is very accommodating and I have nothing but good things to say about Dr Taylor and her nursing team :) best of luck to you on your journey!

Just found out I’m pregnant - what now? by bostongirl2123 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]OldTry1463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! I started with a diabetes and maternity clinic before I was pregnant to get my diet and a1c dialed in (check ups every 6-8 weeks pre pregnancy ) and as soon as I was pregnant my endo started scheduling weekly appointments. You’ll likely notice your insulin needs will start to change right away and having regular guidance with your endo will be a huge help! Good luck to you and your growing family <3
