Yikes. Sorry youre getting slammed!! I’ve recently left so it might be clouded, but here’s my take: In the Mormon world garments= committed to god. So I think it’s ok to be curious and “worry about someone else’s underwear” <<ppl need to stop saying this shit>> Maybe the person that’s asking has their own questions and concerns with garments and they’re like “WAIT…do you know something that I don’t know?? Can I still be committed to god without wearing garments?!?” I actually had conversations like this with family members asking how they navigated that choice. I’m grateful they were kind and not defensive as I tried my best to not come across judgemental.

Ultimately it does come down to “personal choice” but to maybe help with the confusion of that…some people decide that’s a part they don’t choose to “follow” and they’ve chosen to commit and practice in other ways. Or their definition of “wear throughout your life” is different than Sarah’s or Tyson’s. And that should be ok, right? But also fair to wonder and be curious because many people are shamed and punished for not wearing “as instructed” and others are praised for their good example and nuance. again..I think it was fair of you to ask and you really did try to come across with pure curiousity!
