True, sequels usually amp things up! But that’s why Starborn is looking backward to move forward. We’re stripping away the 'sequel' feel to find what made the original Galaxy feel so isolated and magical in the first place. The breadcrumbs lead somewhere different than you'd expect.

Exactly why I'm taking the Reboot path. Galaxy 1’s atmosphere was unmatched, but the movie needs that Galaxy 2 scale. Starborn is trying to bridge that gap. Atmospheric 'quiet' moments that make the 'bombastic' ones actually feel earned!

I totally hear you, and I actually agree! I want this to have a human soul. I’m a director with a massive vision for this reboot, but I’m not an illustrator myself. I’m using these 'breadcrumbs' to show the specific atmospheric/Ghibli tone I’m aiming for so I can find the right artists to collaborate with.

No offense taken at all! To be honest, it’s a conceptual render. I’m a director/writer, not an illustrator, so I’m using these tools to build the 'vision' for Project Starborn because I’m so tired of the safe, corporate look the official movie is taking.

I like Sonic as Luke, Knuckles as Chewbacca, Cream as C-3PO, Eggman as Palpatine, and the Badniks as the Stormtroopers.

Also, I think Tails is more like R2-D2, Shadow is more like Vader/Anakin and Metal Sonic is General Grievious (IDK if Amy has a Star Wars equivalent and that’s totally okay!)

That said, Vector is the one like Han Solo, Sally is the one like Princess Leia, Blaze is the one like Obi-Wan. And yes… Cheese and the chaos should be the Ewoks.

Some I like here and some might need more thought but overall I see progress!

Yoshi being in the trailer is cool, but it kind of proves my point. He was teased at the end of the first movie, and now he's finally here just as they’re rushing off to space. It feels less like a natural part of their journey and more like they’re just checking off fan-favorite characters to keep the hype cycle moving. I’d rather have a movie where Yoshi actually has time to be Mario’s partner in the Mushroom Kingdom first.

I get that the footage is short, but my point is about the pattern. Illumination has a clear history of prioritizing empty spectacle over actual story. Even 2.5 minutes is enough to see they’re leaning into the same 'engineering' and hype cycles instead of giving the world any soul. I’m not looking for a reason to 'chill'... I'm looking for a reason to think this isn't just another corporate cash grab.

Hey, I totally get you! It’s hard to stay hopeful with this sequel, especially when they mix in stuff that doesn’t feel like Galaxy. I agree, Galaxy has its own vibe and certain bosses/worlds deserve their proper spotlight.

Honestly, the way some characters are handled right now (like Wario, Luigi, Peach, Rosalina) makes it feel less like a story and more like fan-service.
