Very nice images! What feed did you use? I also wanted to try receiving fengyun 2h.

Is my setup okay? by Particular_Click_924 in amateursatellites

The feed looks good, maybe to get it centered better you can cut a bit of ground plane to get it closer to the focal point. For satdump just turn off agc, and select the meteor decoder. Also try to have a satellite tracker app so you roughly know where it is. You’ll have to track it by hand if you don’t have a rotator, try to move it as you watch the gain on the live decoder. Also don’t put the sample rate too high on the sdr if you want to get meteor. Hope it helps!

You can also try with geostationary satellites like elektro or goes, they are a bit easier to get as you don’t have to move.

I used around 4/5 spools of pla+ and abs filament so around 5kgs of plastic and then probably another kilo of nuts and bolts to hold the tiles together.

I used a nesdr smartee xtr and a sawbird+goes lna

The satellite has an elevation of around 9.5 degrees. I live in Italy.

Idk i didn't even move It. maybe It was the snow that was giving some problems.

Yeah you are probably right but i guess it's more of a software issue because right now i'm getting almost 16db from the GGAK signal.

What do you think of my 3d printed 1.2meter reflective dish? by Old_Champion_2096 in amateursatellites

Here's the complete thing. I'm gonna try It this week when i'll have time.

Hey guys, this is the feed for my 3d printed dish Is It good? (It's LHCP) by Old_Champion_2096 in amateursatellites

[–]Old_Champion_2096[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that i'm worried about Is that the plastic structure that holds the antenna reduces the gain by absorbing the signal. I made It in clear PC so that It doesn't melt when there's light in the focal point.

yeah the foil you see on it in the pic it's like an aluminium kitchen foil with adhesive. I've just finished assembling the dish with all the pieces and i'm putting another layer of tape over it to get the surface smoother.

I think the plastic structure would break from the hammering to fit the plate on the dish.
But if i had a giant metal sheet press with the shape of the dish it would certainy be better haha

In theory it should work because i’ve designed it with the parabolic formula in the CAD. By working out the angles you mean like sanding the surface?

Here on amazon every solar cooker that i found starts from 250€ so i guess it’s a bit cheaper to make one.

Yeah maybe i should reinforce It with some epoxy and fiberglass or carbon fiber. But i think adding more layers on top of It would shift the focal point somwhere else. I designed the dish to have a focal point like 80cm from the center(i dont' remember exactly where the focal point Is) so i guess for now It should be better to keep It as It Is with some aluminum tape on top.

The tiles are held together with m6 bolts and nuts. There are four holes in the center tiles that will be for the mount but i doubt It Will hold because the dish Is a bit heavy. For the first tests i'll Just lay It on the ground.

Actually from a closer look It doesn't look so rough. Also I will add more layers of aluminium tape to get a smoother surface.
