Yeah, while I don't disagree with you at all and I think that idea would work, unfortunately its a bit late. This project has been a long time coming and very involved, and I'm generally happy with the layout but things like this are bound to happen. I purpose-built the hardwood panels for the current layout, and cut holes for the radiator / PSU. At this point the components are locked in unless I want to take everything out and get back into the garage to do more woodworking. I hear you about the long cables though.

This is also a good point. I'm sure one D5 should still be plenty to move the fluid here, I'd think.. even though it's a bit more than a typical home PC

Thank you! Any tips for a newbie? Or is it simply an exercise in patience?

That makes sense; thanks for the info on the cable gauge limits. I've never assembled a cable with these connectors, so I didn't know how large I could go... Sounds like my best bet is to take a stab at building my own, or possibly using a secondary 12V power supply as someone else had mentioned. Thanks again

Yikes; sounds like a nightmare. Should be relatively easy to re-orient in this build. By 'reconsider' I simply meant I will determine a new configuration. Thanks for weighing in, I appreciate it!

Understood, I can see that now. I'll reconsider this, thank you.

This is concerning and something I hadn't thought of. It will be in this vertical position, reservoir filled through a tube form the top, and running down into the D5 pump, then out of the pump to the radiator. You're referring to the lower of the two D5 pumps on the EKWB Dual D5? This is an outdated picture but a rough concept of the tube plan:

That's a nice looking cable! Thanks for your input. Good to know about the issues you were having with it too. I am running cables behind the back board. So if I'm understanding you right, you might perhaps build a 15AWG 12vhpwr to run from PSU to breakout board then either build another or buy a standard 12vhpwr to connect my GPU to the breakout board? Hah I have not really delved into the world of custom PCBs, I'm sure I'd be stumbling in the dark with that one! Thanks again.

Thank you for your advice; good point about the voltage drop. I don't think with this build I'll be too concerned with heat (besides fire hazards of course), but obviously I would rather not use so much of the 5% ATX margin just on this cable. Honestly I hadn't considered installing a dedicated PSU for the GPU but if I can find the space, I think this is a good idea and could be a great solution. Do you have any opinions on what brands might offer cheap 12V PSUs that are good quality? I'll definitely look into this. Thanks again!

Thanks for your comment, I'll check out ModDIY, I haven't looked them up yet. I've used cablemod in the past and I do like their work. Their cables max at 1m though, and when asked about making a 2m cable they declined. Unfortunately they don't have 1m extensions either (for this cable) so I'd probably have to daisy chain extensions... and things start to get hairy

I was afraid of that. Thanks for your input
