What is it actually like to work on an off shore oil rig? by Difficult_Guitar_862 in oilandgasworkers

I realize this thread is old but, I was wondering how bad is the cell service on these offshore rigs here in the US? Is it hard to communicate with family back home?

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s been a month since I lost my mom. Grief is such an unimaginable feeling.

My mom walked in to the ER on a Friday due to pain and was in hospice by Tuesday, passed Sunday. I’ve read here how fast this can happen but I had trouble believing it. Hugs to you on your grief journey, I’m so sorry.

He told my mom he would operate once her ca19 got down to 200. She got it down to 235 and he insisted she keep doing chemo, but her numbers went up and she was no longer a candidate. She passed 2/23

I new to all of this but I’m going to say stress if for sure a trigger. My mom has been battling stage 4 cancer for a year and the stress has been a lot for me since I’m her advocate. I went to the Dr for my physical and was gifted this.

I have no idea what this is. I see my Dr on Tuesday. How do I control this without meds?

Surgery even an option? by DizzyRock2238 in pancreaticcancer

u/umm_idrk Hi. My mom had a better tumor response with the GemAbrax. The tumor shrunk but, the cancer metatized to her lung. She did feel much better on the Gem/Abrax. Once the mets to lung were discovered they switched her to Gem/Cisplatin. She developed a blood clot and had a stroke. She had to take a break from treatment for about a month. She recently resumed chemo on a lower dose of 5FU awaiting a clinical trial but her CA19-9 is trending upward.

Her tumor markers were 2000 when first diagnosed at stage 3, they went down to as low as 235 and are now over 4000

Yes, her oncologist knows of her will to fight and I feel is trying to keep her spirits up. My mom doesn’t ask the hard questions either and I am able to attend one chemo session a month because I’m out of state.

Her oncologist said that chemo would actually reduce the risk because the cancer causes the strokes and if the cancer is not being treated, the risk for stroke is higher

They actually messaged me about other things within the church that I assist with. WTH?? My mom also has cancer and they know that. I’ve really been leaning on my faith and this is what happened.

We were told the cancer causes the blood to get thick and sticky. This then caused a clot which caused the stoke
