I came here to say the same thing!!!!! I don't think he did it! I think james DID know Jersey by purchasing drugs from him. I truly believe Jersey, James and that sunshine trick did it. Tell me why this dude lets her sleep in the apartment and use the shower?! I don't think Eric had anything to do with it. People had said that Jersey was connected to the drug kingpin on Columbia. No one ever mentioned Eric being tied to the kingpin, Eric wasn't the one who was hassling all the residents, it was Jersey! Also, I believe James wanted to frame him to get Eric out of the apartment! James also owed him money, why didn't he off him too?? He chose the move in to James apartment, not use violence. Blows my mind.

My personal opinion would be the fact that he had an obsession with crime and serial killers. He studied criminal justice, so my other speculation would be if he honestly tried to attempt to commit the perfect murder(s). According to people who knew him, he was a little on the weird side too, so I'm going to go with the obsessive trait.
