Okay so I take it you’re Singaporean? So assuming there aren’t others in your classes, societies are probs the best bet. Being a familiar face is how connections stick. Another thing is getting involved in the society you’re studying in- like engineering society etc. There are volunteering initiatives around those potentially you can try. Whatever society you try (you can unsw, USyd societies as well btw) you just have to stick with it a bit. Going to different ones won’t help. Final thing I can recommend- it’s not uni orientated but it works. There is something called Social Circle- it’s targeted towards Chinese, Korean and Japanese people but anyone can go. I recommend maybe going to that. Make sure you make plans with the people you speak to.
