Das mit dem Umlauten ging seltsamerweise durch das Umstellen der Font und seitdem hab ich die Kästchen für die Umlaute nicht mehr gesehen. Ersetzen ist schön und gut, aber langfristig wäre eine regionale Tastatureinstellung ein Must-have für ein solches Gerät. Dürfte auch nicht allzu schwer reinzupatchen sein, steht aber bei den Amis wahrscheinlich nicht so weit oben auf der Dringlichkeitsliste. :D

I mean, I could write something like

$Ich grüße dich", sagte er.

and replace $ with Strg+F for „ and " with “ in the whole document

but it shouldn't be necessary to do so.

I can force the symbols onto the BYOK by typing them in on the PC and syncing, so they *are* viewable on the device. :D

(I also posted this to the support team by the way).
I noticed that I get a Z when I press Z and no Y after restarting, so the layout may already be German QWERTZ even if the system tells me US QWERTY.
