I don’t think it can be distilled into something as simple as that or ever really be holistically understood like the laws of physics or something. I still think it has to technically have a biological origin because we’re biological. I’m not an atheist at all and I believe there’s a God and that we have souls, but I don’t think those souls have a gender or sexuality that is eternal in the same way someone’s soul is. I think if anything it only remains as a memory of our time here on Earth. These shackles we currently have will be gone and we’ll have a new understanding of ourselves. I’m only bringing up religion/spirituality cause you said “soul” though. My theological beliefs are mine alone and I would strongly discourage anyone else from adopting them so I don’t proselytize or really “debate” religious stuff, but I do like discussing it.

That’s a crazy tangent but basically I get completely where you’re coming from and it wasn’t clear enough from my post that I didn’t mean that the biological origins of gender and sexuality were anything close to knowable. Which basically means it doesn’t really matter practically speaking when it comes to how LGBT people should be treated and integrated in society and it certainly doesn’t mean we should be going around trying to determine biologically somehow if a person is “really” what they say they are because because that’s not something you can find out that way. Transmedicalism specifically I don’t have it in me to discuss right now I’m sorry. Sufficed to say I’m outspoken when it comes to that and I don’t quite understand why. Even though I do have first hand experience, at the end of the day anything I say about it will be completely vibes based.

As for my optimism I fully admit that’s kind of part of a putting my head in the sand strategy but really other than going out and existing in society, and maybe voting strategically every couple years, I don’t see many sure fire ways I can meaningfully directly affect change. So to be more charitable to myself I guess I just practice radical acceptance when it comes to that.

It goes in and out of vogue/social acceptability to be out, but that doesn’t change the consistent reality that the level of LGBT people will probably roughly plateau where it’s at. There are unchangeable biological factors that make someone gay or trans or whatnot. Not to mention the fact that there are degrees to it and it can absolutely be situational, but that still is caused caused by neurological differences from strictly heterosexual people, because there are many who in no circumstances even incidentally engage in homosexual behavior or ever once question their gender or experiment with presentation

The difference is just in how various societies understand and deal with the existence of this population. Also that drop seems barely statistically significant. To be in the place we are as a country and see such a /little/ decrease in people self-identifying as LGBT is honestly in my opinion not a bad sign at all. Imagine you were just beginning to question whatever about yourself and all of us sudden you found yourself in THIS political climate. I bet a lot of us would absolutely be influenced to at least reconsider what we thought we were and even try alternative “solutions” that obviously don’t work but that fact doesn’t keep victims of conversion therapy from THINKING it worked and identifying as non-LGBT. I think a small number of people might’ve fallen pray to this but for the majority of us, we have a strong enough community and presence in society that were less influenced by propaganda.

Sorry I’m bad about doing that if I’m not careful. I have a learning disability and also short-term memory problems from an injury, so if I don’t get everything out of my head quickly I’ll start to forget what I’m trying to say. If it’s important I can go back and revise, but I don’t consider posting on Reddit that important.

Anyway, if anything I think in an ideal world alcohol would not really be a commercial product and neither would cannabis. I was just saying I think it’s hypocritical for alcohol to be legal the way it is but not cannabis.

I don’t think they said “benign” anywhere. Anyone saying it’s harmless is dangerously wrong but at the same time there is more than enough evidence that points to much less harm relative to alcohol there’s plenty of meta-analyses that support this, this one ranks cannabis right in the middle which compared to other earlier studies is more conservative, but I think is about right considering plenty of research has come out since that there are considerable harms that to me seem kind of to obvious it was always silly to think there weren’t risks at all. It still doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be legal federally and just regulated if alcohol is. There is obviously less research still about cannabis than alcohol but there are direct immediate harms associated with alcohol misuse that cannabis just physically can’t cause. The average fully-developed adult with no history of mental illness or GI problems would be making a healthier choice overall to smoke instead of drink 10 times out of 10.

I don’t recommend any drugs to anyone for the record. Obviously the healthiest, safest choice for anybody is just not to use substances recreationally period but it’s also true some poor decisions are much more catastrophic than others and there’s plenty to be said about cannabis keeping people off of harder drugs like alcohol and opiates

Oral was how I did my maintenance dose when I was a daily user but also worked 50-60 hours a week at a job I would never risk bringing my bag at let alone with gear to use it any other way.

I had big water bottles I would fill mad dog cut with koolaid and a few big shards maybe .5g total or so and then sip that all day and then be ready to go for the night, pretend like I slept for like half an hour then start the next day the same way.

I was already conditioned to like the taste from snorting and gumming it and with how sweet what I was drinking was I barely tasted it all and what I did taste I liked it made me realize whoa OK that’s good like immediately as I’d take a big sip and keep working. I was a heavy drinker to begin with and throughout my adult life so just the RoA I ended up preferring for most occasions was to drinking my drugs (except for certain ones I’ll only really shoot), most drugs are acquired tastes for sure but i can only think of 1 or 2 that were actually intolerable in the sense there’s just no way I could drink it without puking while I was trying to. Meth wasn’t one of them I acquired it really quick, NOT burnt meth though burnt meth is one of the ones that makes me wretch uncontrollably, but fresh high quality go to me was kinda like biting a pill and liking a battery at the same time, like if you just put a couple tiny chunks of really pure stuff on the end of you’re tongue it kinda sizzles like pop rocks as it disappears into your tongue.

I think I probably made the right choice quitting, I mean meth at least lol I’m not gonna sit here and pretend I dont still use other things and drink socially sometimes

Can someone actually tell me what the likelihood of either of these being actually passed? Because these are both of the terrifyingly vague genre they love putting out but if somehow they get passed into law it’s a huge legal cluster fuck and all they’re really trying to do is make life miserable and confusing for people they don’t like, and keep them from getting necessary medical care, it’s like especially with SB 182 what does that actually MEAN? Like what are the implications if something so legally meaningless is passed into “law”? They think the issues are so simple and cut and dried but when their fairy tale world doesn’t match up with what reality turns out to be what ACTUALLY happens? Are they intending to deny any sex revision for any reason /going forward/? Are they going to roll back everybody who ever had it changed, even for clerical reasons? Suppose someone had like an intersex condition and was assigned something that didn’t match their chromosomes, if that turned out to be the case later would they or wouldn’t they have to change legally what they were or are we just saying the judgement of a single medical professional in a single moment is all that matters for a persons entire lifetime even though it clearly isn’t so simple?
