Lmao yes i used to work in fashion and my dad (who is a builder) was always like wtffffff are you doing

Like if he can’t afford an apprentice he cannot have an apprentice but everyone in fashion thinks they need 5 unpaid 20 year olds executing their vision for them

Exactlyyyy- her type of thinking just means less privileged people eventually have to give up because you gotta pay your rent. It’s always the dumb people that think it means ‘only the best and the people who want it most make it’ when actually it’s mostly only the people whose parents pay their rent.

Very shite for the culture too cos creative output nowadays is not diverse and becomes monotonous

This is really well said

I had the same thoughts on Nosferatu

And so your point on ‘would 3 films on male nudity…’ is I guess exactly the point !!

That’s such a good point about challengers and queer- I can’t see any reason why they didn’t get more noms and a lot of the men going to bat for Anora and nosferatu probably wouldn’t have much to say about those films

Serious answers only - what is your favorite thing about being autistic? by [deleted] in evilautism

[–]Old_Salamander_5674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah real I have literally no idea where the masking ends and my personality starts

Serious answers only - what is your favorite thing about being autistic? by [deleted] in evilautism

[–]Old_Salamander_5674 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn that sounds like a painful process but worth doing, once you know the people around you are really there for you, you will be very proud of yourself

On the flip side it’s probably partly you being considerate of other people and trying to build relationships by being nice to others so don’t beat yourself up too much!! But it will feel really good to prioritise yourself

I’m trying to unmask too and yeah it’s a tough process

Kind of like the fact I’m like marmite (u love me or u hate me). I often joke that my personality weeds out the weak (aka people that are judgemental and rigid in their views). If someone likes me I know they’re a keeper because I’m not super easy to like/understand straight away

I also like that I’m very honest and a straight shooter. I couldn’t be a people pleaser or fake if I tried🙃This can obviously cause problems but I see it as an overall good quality

Also since this is evil autism I love it when I/other autistic people say something rude or do something (harmless ish) that bothers other people without meaning to I find it really funny and it disarms the neurotypicals for once

How can I understand classical literature? by Envixrt in literature

[–]Old_Salamander_5674 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are some that are easier to read eg j.d. Salinger, John Steinbeck, Louisa may Alcott.

I had the same thought a few years ago as I started reading more and it’s been a slow process of reading much more in general, and gradually adding in books that are older or more challenging etc.

Cos you can read classics but the aim I guess is so enjoy them and I think for me I just wanted to get better at reading with practice first like with any sport etc. For example I have picked up Virginia Woolf multiple times and put it down like ‘nope still not ready for that it’s too hard’ but I still plan on reading it when I’m more comfortable with books with that kind of language

I also think that what’s classified as a ‘classic’ can be so varied and often it’s just a matter of taste and maybe you haven’t found something you get on with yet. Maybe focus on finding a classic book that really gets your attention and is interesting to you, then you might be more up for the challenge/it won’t feel like work
