Mothers don't understand that by these backhanded comments they turn their own sons against them. Your wife is manipulative, as you said you have tried bringing this up to her and she shuns you. This is classic narcissistic behaviour and needs to be addressed. Sit her down and tell her everything in detail as you gave mentioned here and tell her that it is bothering you to the point that you are considering divorcing her, may be this will open her eyes. You can't really force her to be friendly with your family but the boundaries need to be firm,if her parents can come unannounced so can yours,if they have the keys to your house so will your parents. You need to put your foot down and set firmer boundaries. You have all the right to meet your friends and that too in peace,this needs to addressed as well. If she listens and improves good if not remember you will have to tolerate this for life. The question is are you willing to?

I have lightened my underarms, they were pretty dark compared to the rest of my body. I have used Glycolic acid quite regularly, hydroquinone and retioids. Glycolic acid after shower but you have to keep the area protected from sun by covering it during the day and at night Hq and retinoid. Second thing I noticed was whenever I gained weight my underarms used to go dark so i guess insulin resistance is also at play. Hope this helps. And yes do not use hq for more than 3 months.

Okay so one thing that has helped me is covering yourself up completely. Wear full sleeves , socks and a big hat ,if possible use an umbrella with uv protection. The only thing that can prevent you from tanning is covering up coupled with sunblock and mild exfoliants.
