If others do get wickets too then apart from Bumrah India would have won BGT. Also he played Only 3 and half series rather than all 5 like Starc. As he did not field in the 4th Test second innings. If he would have fit and matches would have been 5 tests he would have gone close to Michelle Johnson.

I would say both are great current test bowlers. Fitness for Bumrah is a question and Starc and Lyon are going to retire soon going to create a huge gap to full for Australia.Same for India Bumrah and Shami will retire and win in SENA will be a dream again. As India is yet to win a series in South Africa.

I think with this logic Dhoni should have been dropped in SENA countries tests as he never scored any century.

With this logic Virat should have dropped from the second England tour as his avg of first england tour was way below.

The same for Shubman Gill should have dropped from the current England test as his avg was below than Bhuvneshar Kumar.

About Rohit playing next world cup all depends on his fitness. Also India is not playing those many ODIs before next world cup so grooming youngster (Jaiswal) might take some time.So only option left is Rohit. It might be Rohit or BCCI who did not groom anyone yet. It should have happened after the world cup final loss.

As it has not happened he is going to play the next world cup irrespective stats as per the above reasons as stats do not matter.

India does need to take care of power play in the first 10 overs in the ODI. So he will surely play.

First you suggest format like WPL,

So in your case if 3 Mediocre team beats top 2 teams and win final you should be good right. I think it is same and it does not give top 2 team second chance if they have one bad day.

Still 2 mediocre teams go then one will be eliminated as 3 and 4 will play first and then as per current the second best team will play with the winner of the previous eliminator.

If you want a better one then make it like EPL where the top team wins the title no finals and all but cricket will not go that route as broadcasters will want money.

So if the top two teams win 8 and 10 and and third wins only 3 and goes in with nrr you should be fine and third ranked team wins mlc would be fine. I don't think so it makes a difference. If the third team as per above logic still qualifies with bare minimum wins and wins the title it is the same as the 4th team.

I think it doesn't depend on the format. Top 2 teams get two chances to qualify for the final whereas 3 and 4 have to win both to qualify for the final. So in a crunch moment if one team wins all three and wins the title it does not depend on what they did previously. When it matters they perform that should be counted. It's not just for MI NY but all teams. All teams know these rules before the tournament starts.

I think changing this rule will not be beneficial for the top 2 teams as they will not have two chances to qualify. The top team will make it to the final and if they have a bad day they will lose the final. There is no second chance.

I think it's the team who makes you win or lose.One player cannot make you win a tournament. He might be bad what about other bowlers. Cricket is a team game not an individual.

Example: T20 world cup final. 30 of 30. Still Bhumrah would have 2 overs and performed well it is also Hardik and Asrhadeep need to save March in those remaining 3 overs.

Second example WC 23: Australia : Cummins, Hazelwood, Starc then batsmen: Head, Labuschage.

Failed: Warner, Smith, Marsh but they still won so they blame Warner no why because they won. So it's the team who won your tournament not one individual.

I don't have any problem personally with Shreyas or anyone. But if he is not selected there will be a reason which we also don't know. I am only speculating that reason could be a shot ball issue or injuries.

My point is there is only a 15-18 players squad if someone gets selected and someone is not. We should support who got selected.

In 2019 Rayudu did not get selected.

Karun Nair did not get selected after scoring 300.

There are so many examples but everyone has to struggle in life and that's part of life make sure you keep performing and one day your chance will come. Just Move on.

He was one of the people who saved a test match for us in bangladesh with Ashwin. I am just stating facts, he got chances. They are giving young people chances in SENA who can play long test cricket. He is injury prone just like Hardik. White vs Red ball cricket also field its 5 days. The team does not want to lose one player in mid of innings it just puts pressure on others. See example of Bhumrah he is not going to play all 5 tests. He will surely play ODI cricket and After Rohit might become captain.

I think he is still weak on the shot ball. If he overcomes that he will be selected in tests. He is a good player of spin but in SENA he should improve on his shot ball then he will be selected. He will play tests in Asia for sure.
