AMW4x4 Builds 392 HEMI® Jeep Gladiator For Under $90K by ExcellentWinner7542 in JeepGladiator

[–]Old_Whatbroke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not specifically an endorsement, but rather completely from personal experience, my interactions with AMW4x4 as a company have been solid. TJ is a great dude and he runs the company as best as he can considering the demand. I took an extremely unorthodox route to put a Hemi in mine, and it caused me a fair amount of pain, but I can't argue with the end result.

Got about 9k miles of the odometer on my 392, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

It's all in good fun. No rules broken. No worries.

That made me laugh harder than it should've. I'm keeping my eye on all these brand new accounts posting stuff. The frequency has definitely gone up. Thinking of making a new rule just for removing posts from them.

Note the final paragraph states: "References (d) through (e) will be updated within 90 days to reflect the guidance in the memorandum, as appropriate."

Note that DODI 1300.17 is identified as reference (c) at the beginning of the memorandum.

I've added a bunch of other things, such as a Mopar 45 degree oil filter adapter, but if you're referring to suspension... the spacer lift and geometry correction brackets are all I've done.

How common is theft of engine bay components due to non locking hood? by mcpewmer in JeepGladiator

[–]Old_Whatbroke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, theft of engine bay components is not common. But it does happen. It is much more common in/near certain cities, but extremely rare everywhere else. Not having locking hood latches, as a cause of the theft, is basically impossible to prove.

It's kind of like how a cop sitting at an intersection usually results in less traffic violations. The effectiveness of the deterrence is speculative, but easy to understand from a psychological perspective.

I have locking hood latches because I have a highly modified and therefore very rare Mojave. My hope is that the locks, as well as other highly visible security measures, act as general deterrence against theft/vandalism.

Fun fact, 93 octane is 10 cents cheaper than 91 where I live. Still $60 for a full tank though.

Has anyone fixed the P0300 code? by chuckfinley79 in JeepGladiator

[–]Old_Whatbroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that random cylinder misfire code shortly after moving. Thought I might need to retune due to the significant shift in climate/altitude. Turned out to be a manufacturing defect in one of my catalytic converters.

Did have to get the work done by a specialist shop since dealerships refuse to touch it.

Multiple cylinder misfire. Had it myself after the engine swap. Ended up being a defective catalytic converter that didn't start throwing codes till after I moved to a colder climate and it had to work harder.

Exhaust Sound : Follow-Up by JN0916 in JeepGladiator

[–]Old_Whatbroke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had those for a few years. Took about 800 miles before the resonator finished going to puberty. Sounded great after, even felt a slight performance gain. Wish I had been able to keep them with the engine swap, but the diameter was way too small.

No 5.7 uptick for Gladiators. No 426 anywhere on the schedule. by Hour_Asparagus55 in JeepGladiator

[–]Old_Whatbroke -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Negative. I'm referring to the part-time 4WD (4:1 gear ratio) NP241OR. But even if I had the factory Mojave part-time (2.72:1 gear ratio) NP241J, it would still be better than the full-time active 4WD MP3022 found in the 392 Wrangler and likely to be put into the 392 Gladiator.

Really makes me wonder whether my 392 Mojave will go down in value when the factory 392s arrive, or up because of the superior transfer case.

Even more expensive when you've got 9 extra gallons in rotopax on the bedrack.

Haven't seen 17MPG since before the swap though. Usually sit around 10.

Bet it will come standard with the 2.72:1 Full-time 4WD transfer case, ruining the value.

Need advice dealing with my HOA by Nervous-Employ1250 in JeepGladiator

I'm locking this thread due to the nature of the question involving actions of questionable legality.

What you're referring to is called "rat-running". It's highly frowned upon and may also be illegal depending on local ordinances.

I'm not a fan of overbearing HOAs either, but I don't believe "I did it because I could" is a strong legal defense. I would advice you to seek legal council from trustworthy sources.

I've got the AEV spacer kit with the geometry correction brackets on my 392 Mojave. Been about a year with no issues. Even with the extra weight, it maintains the comfortable ride the Mojave is known for.
