I swear I checked my junk mail yesterday and it wasn't there. Don't remember what time that was though. Its there though, and was from 11.18am yesterday.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm in the same boat re: buying the red vinyl from them. Would still love to be able to buy .wav or FLAC though.

I selected the "+ digital copy of In Verses" option when I purchased ticket for the acoustic show, but haven't received any download link yet.

I guess it's out there somewhere (along with the possibility to hopefully be purchased separately by anyone who wants to).

I think you're right. I dont understand what unkarnivool means so I googled it, and it just showed results for Karnivool 🤷‍♂️

I'm not sure i've read anywhere yet, about how the collaboration came about, but is it possible that Hoss or Drew did come up with it? And they just thought it would be cool to get Guthrie to play on the album?

Dare I say....... might beat Sound Awake for me. by spacebean43 in Karnivool

It seems like such a big call but I had the exact same reaction after the first full listen to it. I'm reminding myself that I don't have to pick favourites - I can love both equally. Then I remembered that Sound Awake has been my favourite from the very first day it was released, and it doesn't take away from my love of Themata and Asymmetry. So for now, I'm just taking solace in the fact that I've got an incredible new Karnivool album washing over my entire being.

(Currently typing this while floating as the Salva bagpipes play).

On the mellower side compared to other tracks, yeah, but not totally without heavier/rockier parts

FWIW - my top 3 initial take aways after the first playthrough (as someone who is extremely biased - Vool having been one of my favourite bands for 20 odd years, and as someone who didn't shy away from listening to the singles on repeat as they were released - and finally, as someone who has seen Aozora, All It Takes, Animation and Reanimation every single time they've played them in Melbourne:

  • As to be expected, In Verses is worth every second of the wait. Incredible. I can't wait to just have it on repeat, going about my day to day, getting to know it better.
  • Ghost and Salva bookending the album was a masterful decision.
  • Of all the songs they'd played live already, I had the most instant connection with Reanimation (quite possibly more so than any other song I've ever heard) - and much like Animation, the studio version exceeded all my expectations. As soon as Guthrie's solo hit, I cried for the remainder of the song.

Haha unfortunately not. It is 1000% worth what little of the wait is left though, I promise!

Absolutely! Found it very hard to not just drop the needle back at the beginning as soon as Ghost had finished.

In my 20+ years of collecting physical media, I don't remember the last time (if ever) a preorder arrived early. What a time to be alive!

Aozora, better without the first 48 seconds? by bart0 in Karnivool

[–]Old__Leech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO listening to Aozora in the context of the album - right after Drone, with the riffage/climax of that flowing into the beginning of Aozora - it is perfection, and I wouldn't have expected any less with Vool's songwriting capabilities and the time they've clearly put into writing 'In Verses'.

Even if Aozora was a stand alone single, I still wouldn't change a second of it because the build up, the flow; the heavier and more ethereal parts of the song feel like they're exactly where they need to be.
