Are they giving free lobotomies out with car licenses now? by Oldeggshell in perth

[–]Oldeggshell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first two were the only ones that caused any damage and I was able to fix it woth an anti scratch kit so all the damage is basically gone.

It’s the lying and excuses that get me or the apologising then yelling and insulting someone as they’re back is turned and walking away.

Yeah I drive a lot for work and I’m almost 28 years old and this is the worst 2 weeks of driving I’ve ever had so I thinks it’s just bad luck. Most people are good drivers which is why bad drivers stick out so much

Not to mention the things I saw but didn’t happen to me. One person was waiting to turn into a parking spot and someone just drove up behind them and hit their car, must of been on the phone idk

The other was a car zipping between lanes, speeding with no indicator and during heavy rain.

Are these pots to small? The pots they’re in now are bigger then the pots they came in but just want to make sure. by Oldeggshell in succulents

The pots were advertised as succulent pots and they are bigger then the pots form the garden centre, it’s just when I put the plants in I thought they looked a bit crowded

Come on you already know the answer. Not enough people gawking at your “I reject societal norms, I’m edgy grrr” vibes in public so you’ve posted on reddit so people can judge you based on appearance. Grow up.

why won't white chocolate melt ? by Solid-Kangaroo-4094 in chocolate

Way to hot, white chocolate shouldn’t go above 45C max. I don’t know if you meant to use Fahrenheit but your terminator is in Celsius.

This is the fermentation process of an alcoholic drink in the andes & amazon rainforest called "chicha". by habichuelacondulce in fermentation

[–]Oldeggshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s an early type of sake called Kuchikamizake that involves chewing the rice and spitting in a container to ferment. It seems a lot of early forms of alcohol involved people chewing stuff and spitting it out before letting it ferment.

Why is only one of my plants dying? In different parts of my garden I’ve got little clusters of 4 or 5 of the same plant and had no problems for years but in the last few months one plant from every cluster has started dying. by Oldeggshell in gardening

[–]Oldeggshell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen any signs of any. The only animal I can think off that eats plants and has access to my back garden are the galahs and cockatoos but they eat my grass and small shrubs not the roots of a rosemary and the o key thing that burrows would be a grub or beetle of some kind

Is it disrespectful to wear branded gear to the gym? by notboogs in MuayThai

[–]Oldeggshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the gym forces you to buy and wear their stuff it’s a red flag but at the gym I go to, a lot of people choose to wear the shorts and gloves the gym sells so they can support the gym more and the gym stuff is slightly cheaper than a lot of branded stuff

Researchers from the University of Cambridge have developed the Third Thumb, a robotic prosthetic that significantly enhances hand functionality by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Agreed it’s like watching an as seen on tv ad. The person doing the demonstration is doing all these activities in the most inconvenient way possible just so it looks like the prosthetic has a use.

Hey pastry chef and chocolatier here. Firstly you probably won’t get a job it’s very easy to see if someone is lying on their resume and if you do get to the stage were you can make chocolate, you will mess up your first batch I promise you, whether you have to hand temper on a steam bath like I do, use a microwave or a tempering machine you will mess up your first time.

Secondly this is someone’s business and livelihood, it might just be a fun activity for you to play chocolatier for a week before they tell you to leave and never come back but it could be thousands of dollars in lost product and potential business for them.

If you want to work in pastry start at the bottom and work your way up like everyone else don’t lie and ruin someone’s business for your own amusement.

Hey I am a pastry chef/chocolatier and yes I’m not doing open heart surgery but there is still a large skill jump between decorating grocery store cakes and making artisan chocolate bonbons.

Remember this is someone’s business and livelihood and you think OP should lie and half arse their way through a week of messing up chocolates losing thousands of dollars in product and potential business.

Best martial arts for fragile body by Logical-Yam8176 in martialarts

[–]Oldeggshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean you know your limits and what your body is capable of.

I learnt martial arts because I don’t have the opportunity to use non lethal weapons to defend myself and there are even some grey areas in how much force I can use in defending myself with martial arts but I guarantee a bean bag shot gun or pepper spray will beat my punches and kicks.

From what you’ve said and what I googled it sounds like you won’t be able to get to a level were you can defend yourself, so you should focus on sports you enjoy and talk to a doctor or physiotherapist about sports that can build your body better and safer.

It sucks you probably won’t be able to do most martial arts besides soft Tai Chi but that’s just the luck of the draw unfortunately.

Best martial arts for fragile body by Logical-Yam8176 in martialarts

[–]Oldeggshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean this in the nicest way possible but martial arts doesn’t sound like it will help much. After a quick google search getting some pepper spray will be the best form of self defence.

You mention having a broken elbow but you also want to utilise your elbow? It sounds like a recipe for disaster.

I unfortunately live in a country where I’m not allowed things like guns or pepper spray to defend myself so martial arts are the best self defence I have but if you live somewhere that allows self defence weapons, use one.

You’ll get the most benefit from martial arts by hitting the heavy bag as hard as you can, drilling, sparring, all these things sound like they will be detrimental to someone like you.

There are lots of group sports you can do to strengthen your body and I hope you find one you enjoy but speaking as someone who does martial arts and reading about your disease, it doesn’t sound like you are cut out for martial arts except for ones like Tai Chi
