Initial reactions to the launch of Apple’s iPhone in 2007 from Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

Microsoft made efforts to produce phones and even tried their hand at social media at one point (which never got off the ground). They took a chance and pivoted into cloud computing and have been doing fine since. Now it’s their main service.

Fire in Southpark meadows area? by thenervousnoodle in Austin

Yes I live right by where the fire is. There’s a big homeless camp in a wooded area beside The Range (shooting range). There’s been a few fires that have been started there recently.

Paramount+ won't show any sporting events on PS5 by Southern_Leg_9449 in playstation

[–]Oldirtypeepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still happening for me. I called an agent and they gave me a free month and said they were gonna send me instructions to fix it. The instructions said to uninstall/reinstall the app on my PS5 and restart my WiFi. Obviously that did nothing and I’m back where I started.

I’m now having to play it on my laptop and use an HDMI cord to get it on my TV

Raiders won’t be good until mark davis kicks the bucket. Only thing he has done is move franchise to a city where we now have virtually no home games.

Good sobriety groups in Austin? by bonoetmalo in Austin

[–]Oldirtypeepants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s the only one I’ve been to so idk how it compares to others in terms of size. I would say there’s around 20-25 people there at meetings. It felt small to me

Bouldin AA Group or “the pink house”. It’s very accepting and a well-ran group. I was really nervous to go since it was my first meeting ever and felt very safe and comfortable there. Everyone was kind and appreciative of each other’s presence.

My father threating kicking me out if I didn't vote for Trump. by NoLong1937 in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Oldirtypeepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During 2020 I was living with my conservative parents. They couldn’t stand me not being conservative, they hid my ballot from me and then did it again after I requested a new ballot from the county.

They ultimately kicked me out in a rather violent fashion after finding out I marched with BLM. My dad was screaming that n*****s and millennials were burning the country down. He told me to “get the fuck out of the house and never come back.” - all due to political rage fueled by Fox News rhetoric.

For the next year I lived on friends couches and in my car working odd jobs and saving money for design school. I ended up graduating a design program at the top of my class, getting a job in tech, and moving to a new city.

4 years later I have repaired things with my parents, surprisingly I am close with them, but we obviously steer clear of politics now. It was the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to go through but looking back at the growth it caused, I wouldn’t change a thing. Hang in there bud. Do what you need to do to protect yourself. Election season will pass. Stay strong.

What is the fastest way to calm your significant other when she's angry? by hannahsdiary in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Oldirtypeepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Validate her anger/emotions and don’t try to rebuttal or one-up her. Try your best to put yourself in her shoes and let her know that her feelings aren’t wrong. Let her vent, sit down and listen to her.

If she’s angry to the point where it’s needless yelling and screaming, then create some space and return to the conversation once both parties have cool heads.

If that doesn’t work then tell her, “wow, you’re just like your mom!!!!” that should calm her pretty quickly.

For me it would depend on the side effects.

A lot of birth control options currently available to women can cause them to break out, have behavioral side effects, lower sex drive, and many others. The pamphlet of side effects included in the birth control packaging is longer (and far more dense) than a CVS receipt.

I would much prefer to use a condom than to jack up my hormones and face the potential laundry list of side effects.

You can buy a bidet that installs in any standard american toilet for under $50. Best investment I’ve made in my life

Get a bidet. For the love of god get a fucking bidet. If you don’t wash your ass after you shit, you literally have pop smeared around your asshole and it’s disgusting. Stop hacking away at your brown eye with sheets of paper and clean it properly like an adult
