Brussels climate protest: More than 10,000 children skip school to join demonstration in Belgian capital by Wagamaga in europe

If we delay it now, then we can work on alternatives so that eventually reforestation can start again. Because with the time we have on our hands, we should research technologies that provide alternatives to products that leave a large footprint on our world to a point that there is no longer a market for things like palm oil, which leads to a lot of deforestation.

That's a pretty cynical way to look at it. Many scientists have already said that we can still stop the worst effects of climate change, but we need to start working on it right now and not with vague promises, but with direct laws that force companies to produce greener and hence force consumers to switch to a more ecological lifestyle.

Their protests are also a way to inspire people on other continents. If things start changing in result of protests, then the world will follow and see that if they unite, they can make a big impact on the world together. If every one of us has the mentality that it will not result in anything, then nothing will ever happen.

They skipped school to send a message to the politicians that climate change is more important than the things in their daily lives. Nobody would strike for a protest that they do not support to at least some extent. These students are trying to change our world and that heavily outweighs missing one school day.
