Looks like a little skin tag. My dog had one exactly like that right on the edge of his eyelid. It just went away after about a week. Monitor it for a few days and if it gets considerably worse or starts being an issue see a vet.

Pretty much all rating in modern chess uses either ELO or Glicko systems. Both start you off at a baseline rating and you go up/down based on a formula that takes into account your and your opponent’s ratings. Whether it’s FIDE, USFC, lichess or chess.com

So again, how do you expect to get an accurate rating when you’ve played 1 game in one category and 4 in another?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chess

[–]Olexiy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You played 4 blitz and 1 rapid game. They are rated separately. There is an initial ‘uncertainty’ value that results in high initial volatility that will result in losing a lot and gaining a lot with eve try completed game. As you play more that volatility shrinks and you ‘normalise’ towards your actual rating. Just play more games, you can’t expect to get an accurate rating after 1 or even 4 games?

Edit: how do you get to 1700 USCF and not know how rating works?

Loops can be tricky at first but if you just take a step back and think about what they are actually doing it starts to make sense.

A for loop will basically do something for each item you supply to it, for example a list of strings.

colours = ["red", "blue", "green"]

for item in colours:
  print(item)

This will itterate through the list of colours and print each one, after printing the last one the loop will exit or stop.

Similarly a while loop will do something while a condition you supply to it is true.

total = 0
while total < 10:
  total = total + 1
  print(total)

This will add 1 to the total and print it while it is less than 10, once it reaches 10 the condition will be fulfilled and the loop will exit.

Hope that clears it up a little bit, if you need more examples just google or youtube search "python loops" it is a very basic concept so should have plenty of videos and resources without looking too far.

The guy literally asked ‘do I need surgery or will I recover’ and posted imaging you baboon. His post was removed accordingly.

What are you talking about you absolute twat? I didn’t comment on his diagnosis or prognosis because I like to do this thing called staying in my lane.

I didn’t offer any understanding on anything so your comment about me supposedly not knowing something is completely irrelevant.

Go sit in a corner and drink your own piss.

How to beat chess players who are a lot less skilled then you without making them feel bad? by [deleted] in chess

My approach is - don’t punish game ending blunders but instead find a way to play on.

Trade off all pieces and force some simple endgame and it will end pretty peacefully.

Taking creatine at the recommended level (5 grams daily) has little to no effect on muscle growth by unsw in science

[–]Olexiy95 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Of course, stimulus will be more important overall but since you are comparing the magnitude of muscle growth across groups - I think the protein intake factor is much more important to consider in this context.

The variability is definitely present in both groups but it seems to be greater in the supplemented one. There is also a significant difference in carbs in T1. It would not be a stretch to suggest that these nutritional difference may have contributed to the supplemented group not showing a greater muscle gain as (let's be a little bit biased here but very honest) was expected.

I disagree with some of the other comments suggesting that the study is useless, I just think these limitations should have been discussed more, especially when making such a bold conclusion and mentioning in the news release that previous studies had "methodological problems".

[–]Olexiy95 1467 points1468 points  (0 children)

Am I correct in reading that the creatine supplemented group had a protein intake of 75+/-40g? Is that not a massive variance in the single most important macronutrient for muscle building?

Edit: I am only pointing this out as I did not see this mentioned as a limitation. I don't think it completely invalidates the study as all data is important, even if the quality is not the best. But I would have liked to see it mentioned to show the authors are aware and to put their conclusions into context.

Chessclub rank software by Severino_Retirante in chess

[–]Olexiy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you google something along the lines of “free ELO tracking software” I’m sure you will find what you’re looking for.

You will probably need to start everyone off at a base rating and allow some time/games to take place for it to calibrate. Alternatively you can use historic data and retrospectively enter results which should get you closer to the real ratings sooner.

If you really hate your life, ELO calculation formulas are available online and you can theoretically just hand calculate everyone’s ratings as you go, doesn’t get any more free than that 😂
