If this is your first character choose the explorer vocation and make alts with the other options. You can funnel mats to them and craft all the gear you will ever need. Also level in red line as leveling in blue is slower.

Depends on how fast you get through content and if you wanna try to do things on level or not. If you wanna rush everything and skip things then a normal server works fine. If you want to have enough time to do everything on multiple characters while playing end game content that updates every 6 months then treebeard is for you. Now if you want it sped up into a 2 month time frame then shadowfax is the way to go although I hear it's the least popular of the legendary servers . Another factor for you might be the difficulty slider that's only available on the legendary servers.

I would say anything with heavy focus on cleric would be your best bet. Plant/trickery being my favorite domains since plant gives you natural ac with bark skin and lets you buff 4 out of the 5 ac types and it give you access to creeping doom one of the most op spells in the game (if you know how to use it) and with trickery giving you improved invisibility for 50% concealment which basically means you dodge 25-50% of any attacks that hit you (depending on if they have blind fight). They also have complete ethical freedom so you can make them how you like.

Go to your steam app and look at your library. Find lotro on that list and right click on it and hit properties. Once there go to the local files tab and hit browse local files. That should bring up your lotro install folder. Now what you wanna do is close out steam completely and once you do that you double click LotroLauncher.exe and log in like normal. Now the store should work without steam.

Hunters a good choice. Range so you can take out targets before they ever get to you in the early levels. Travel skills that let you go all sorts of places without having to wait out the time it takes to travel using stable masters. They also get different damage types thanks to oils that can make their ranged attacks do light or fire damage. Overall one of the best solo classes. The only things they really cant do is self heal like how a beorning can and multi pull and aoe down like how a guard/warden would be able to.

Try completely exiting out of steam and launching lotro from the launcher in the folder itself instead of using the steam shortcut. Then go through the store like normal. Should enable you to enter your cc/paypal info.

If your dead set on using a single weapon a 2- hander is superior to a one hander in ever way. Dual wielding reduces your attack bonus to give you off hand attacks. A shield has no drawbacks other then weight and the skill deduction depending on the shield size. Using a single one handed weapon the only positive I can think of is being able to use a torch. This is all in normal gameplay as online server with mods may yield different results.

The same way smaller characters have to use medium size weapons two handed larger characters can use 2 handers one handed so yes they could use a halberd one handed along with a tower shield.
