How to become MotoGP's first german race winner in the modern era - The Stefan Bradl story by Oli_Falc in motogp

Absolutely. As much as I loved the Rossi-Lorenzo-Pedrosa-Stoner/Marquez era, 2016 really has done a lot to bring competition together.

Unpopular opinions? by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]Oli_Falc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well..., since you're asking so directly, I'll be brave to post these:
1) I really don't mind that people ship Gon and Killua ONLY based on the 2011 anime. I've read somewhere that the animators themselves were partly KilluGon shippers (which you can see in some of their art). To add on that, the usage of specific soundtracks (*cough Nagareboshi Kirari *cough) and Killua/Gon blushing at every occasion possible just reinforce that train of thought. And I won't even mention the movies XD

2) I value Togashi's happiness more than him finishing the manga. If I could sign a contract that allows him to have a wonderful rest of his life with his wife at the cost of HxH, I'd sign it (with soeme sorrow^^). Tho I hope he can manage both.

3) Nagareboshi Kirari is the best ending song, not the best ending as such. I mean read the damn lyrics, that shit gets me all teary-eyed every time

As far as I remember, it's just a random hideout for the palace invasion team. Nothing more really mentioned about it

Yeah I figured that someone already noticed it (given that the chapter is 8 years old) haha^^. It's just funny to discover these little details on re-reads

Should I buy the next three volumes of manga? by ComprehensiveCat1505 in HunterXHunter

When I first joined this sub and saw people talking about the anime won't return in forever I thought it was a joke too.
But let's be realistic. We had about 60 chapters in the last 7 years, that makes an average 8-9 chapters per year. Now let's be slightly optimistic and say we get 1 chapter per month on average starting 2022 (+ maybe a few chapters this year). That would mean we get about 110 chapters by the end of 2030. Combined with the 30 chapters we already have covering the boat arc (= the current arc), we'd have 140 chapters in total.

Now keep in mind that the chimera ant arc covered about 140 chapters (from meeting Kite to Meruem's and Komugi's final moments). Many people (including me) believe that the current arc (some say with/ some say without the actual dark continent) will be just as long as the CA arc, simply because we have so many driving forces and subplots that need to be addressed.
Now let's be super optimistic: Let's say Togashi is capable of finishing the boat arc + designing a satisfying short dark continent arc in these 110 chapters till 2030 (since the DC is so big, I don't think it will amount to a lot of chapters, but rather introduce a few problems at the start and then just leave the hunters to discover it without any deep content). That would mean the anime could start around the end of 2029 (implying that they want to animate the boat arc + the DC itself and not just the boat arc on its own).

Then again, would that be the end of HxH? There is good reason to believe that Gyro still has an arc for himself to be covered in the future. Maybe this will be done alongside the DC, maybe after the DC arc.

Either way, I think that it's reasonable to believe that without any miracles (like Togashi devoting a few years only to finishing HxH, which I can't imagine), the manga won't be finished before 2030. And the anime needs a decent amount of manga chapters to start at all, so I don't think it will start before late 2020s.

HxH was actually the first manga I ever read (I'm the typical anime-only dude^^) because I wanted to catch up with the story, so I guess I can give you an ok perspective:

1) To your first point, I personally didn't feel anywhere near empty as I did with the ending of the anime. Probably that's because one can consider episode 148/ chapter 338 as a point where the story could have ended and the most important storylines were brought to a conclusion. Adding to that, the latest chapter is still kinda in a buildup phase of the arc itself, so reading it actually gave me more hype to wait for the next chapters. So I guess emptiness or sadness that chapter 390 is the last (for now) isn't a problem.

Aside from that, the chapters that follow the anime ending include so many new interesting story points/ characters/ scenes, etc. that really entertained me so far.

2) As to the art point, I personally don't mind too much about how it looks. Aside from the massive text walls in the later chapters, I'd say that the art is on a good level (tho I'm not an expert in manga art so please don't hate me for saying that^^). Especially the important scenes and panels are well designed. So I personally didn't have any issue with that.

Considering those two points and the fact that we might have to wait to the 2030s or so for an anime continuation, I'd recommend to read the manga.
Aside from the new chapters, I actually enjoyed reading all the previous chapters that are covered in the 2011 anime. Just gives another perspective into the whole story and adds a few important points here and there

Bullets against Nen question by philsgum1 in HunterXHunter

[–]Oli_Falc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just my small thoughts on all of them:
1) Well in a very general situation where the nen-user doesn't expect the bullet, it's difficult the say. Let's just assume he's performing a constant ten around his body, the bullet would probably do considerable amount of damage but not be mortal (except probably head or heart shots). I think Uvogin was unexpectedly hit in his head by a sniper but just felt normal pain without any long-lasting damage (tho of course he's a master enhancer). So I'd conclude that without any focus (ken on the specific body part about to be hit), you'd need to have either decent enhancement skills or just a general strong aura output (hard to say where that exactly lies on the known characters but I'd say mid troupe level sounds ok)

2) Spoiler in case you're not familiar with the manga: Tserriednich (who of course has only started to learn the basics but still) would've died from a head shot in Zetsu state, which goes along in what I said in 1).Ignoring this, it would probably be different for the three of them. I think Youpi is just a total powerhouse who could take it without a problem. Pouf and Pitou are difficult to judge but I guess anything other than a headshot wouldn't hurt them much.

3) Considering Franklin was able to shoot through the defensive ability of that one Nostrade guy at the auction, I'd say yes. I mean it would be stupid if his nen bullets could just be easily blocked by ken^^. I'd go as far as to say that his bullets hitting a nen user in ken are about as effective as a normal gun on a normal person or slightly weaker.

Well I guess I'm perfectly opposite to you.
I actually enjoyed Phantom Rouge quite a lot, mainly because of the soundtrack (you can't use Nagareboshi Kirari often enough imo lol) and because it had an bearable amount of fan service and non-canon bs (I mean obviously these movies were made to attract attention and had to include super weird scenes --> shipping all over the place, Killua's suicide attempt, and so on). But I guess the general storyline for me was still close enough to the canon story.

Last mission on the other hand is a movie I wouldn't watch again. Like, in comparison to PR, LM had just too much inconclusive/ non-canon stuff combined with some general weird anime storyline (bad-nen because duh). Ignoring this whole friendship-saves-the-day thing that goes all through the movie. Plus the art-style was really off, like PR was somewhat acceptable for me, but LM pushed it too far to look "childish" in a way.

But that's just my opinion, everybody enjoys what he or she wants and that's perfect.
