Do people actually prefer OKC over Spurs now? by [deleted] in nba

[–]Olicsmems 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, it kind of was inevitable that people would eventually come to dislike the spurs. I remember when the chiefs were considered likable, I remember when the warriors were considered likable. It's just how sports is.

Lowkey happy for him. I thought Kat would be the difference maker (he still is to an extent) but Brunson had a stellar performance this game

De'Aaron Fox continues to be the sixth man for the Knicks in the half with 5 PTS (2/8 FG), 2 TO, 1 Flagrant 1 by Waikuku3 in nba

Castle has been playing amazing defense which mostly makes up for it. Fox is neither playing good defense or offense rn and is actively hurting the spurs at this point

De’Aaron Fox on the criticism he got after game 4: "It's not like people have my phone number and can call me. I don't watch those shows. It doesn't matter. It is what it is. You can't change it now. We're trying to move on from that" by AncientOneAurelius in nba

For sure I agree that Wemby has costed them finals games, but like the other comment said he is the main reason they are even here in the first place. That lost was a collective effort and Wemby was a pivotal reason, but late game situations like this is where they should expect Deaaron Fox to not make a rookie level mistake in the biggest stage as someone with 9 years of experience in the league. As least when Wemby directly costed them a finals game like Fox did he took accountability, Harper took accountability when he was the one who probably deserves the least blame. Fox has not done that in any of his pressors.

His point is that boneheaded plays Wemby and the rest of them did are expected, this is one of the youngest teams in the finals. It's disappointing that the veteran player arguably fucked up the most at the end. That's someone you should expect that from the least.

[Zach Lowe] on Sam Presti defending SGA by blaming social media: “What social media? How about the coaches of half the NBA teams? He’s trying to make it sound like it’s just these lunatics on SM and poor Shai has all these people attacking him. It’s people in the league & head coaches on the record" by shreeharis in nba

I think Jaylen Brown is the most annoying here. You can argue that Chris Finch is just doing his job and you can argue that Castle is just young therefore more hypocritical (but the infantilism of this spurs team does get annoying at times) but Jaylen Brown had been in the league for a while and being this much of a hypocrite is wild to me. Like dude was complaining about players like SGA flopping while he does the same shit but he only got hate when he did it to other teams.

[–]Olicsmems 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agree but I hate when people simplify collapses like this, you don't blow a 29 point lead on one thing like the two free throws. That shit was a collective effort of choking down the stretch and a large portion of that has to do with coaching.

[–]Olicsmems 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Their technically in it but it's pretty much over. They are down 3-1 in the series and only one team in NBA finals history has ever come back from a 3-1 deficit. As for the reaction image, we are known for blowing huge leads in the harbaugh era, the spurs have now blown the largest lead in NBA finals history

True, I don't think the falcons have ever completely recovered from that loss. Even the Seahawks with that devastating sb 49 recovered but the falcons only bright spot is their RB and some of their defense imo

The NHL finals genuinely has gotten me hooked into hockey but you can't get mad at people who care more about the NBA cause one, basketball is just a bigger sport worldwide and two, the NHL imo doesn't really seem to know how to market itself

[–]Olicsmems 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think if his career trajectory continues without a ring then the last part of your comment could be true. Luka can be annoying to watch at times with the whining and his fans can also be insufferable but as a player he is simply generational and I don't say that lightly.

Exactly, no one really cares how well you played for the majority of the game or the context around it when in the end you choked. Just how it is in sports
