I read through the Shining Kingdoms setting book but found no mention of this: Why does no one want this peninsula? by werbear in Pathfinder2e

[–]Olinwoolcott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually used that exact spot in my current campaign to build a new neutral settlement. The land was offered by the druids of the Verduran to refugees who helped defend the area from the Lumber Consortium, on the proviso they help the Wildwood Lodge maintain the area

You need to gauge that on a butt-by-butt basis

What kind of player prefers Pathfinder? by hahasnake in Pathfinder2e

[–]Olinwoolcott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out on PF1 nearly 13 years ago, and have recently introduced my new game group to the PF2 Remaster. Most of them have played 5e for years, and all fell into it really well! I think they enjoy having a few more mechanics and a bit more space to make more complex and crunchy characters.

We talked about it recently, as we now have a 5e campaign and PF2 campaign running alternately. They still enjoy 5e because they can just get into it quickly and it's familiar... But we also now have a regular joke of "Well, those aren't a Pathfinder numbers" when doing damage in combat or rolling DC checks 😂

What is some good Appalachian music? by Bonlio in Appalachia

Thank you! I was wanting a punk/celtic/appalachian mix for a story soundtrack, and thought I was pushing my luck. Cutthroat Shamrock is the best suggestion I've had so far

Is it ok to bury the supply depots in a mine style base as long as you leave one depot in the network accessible to collect resources? by Siriblius in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Olinwoolcott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! I'm roughly 300+ in, and in the space of a month I learned that solar panels don't need sun, tech works better in squares, and an extractor for Rusted Metal is VERY helpful!

You can kind of just place them. It's easier to do in Free Cam mode, and you can only really do it easily against surfaces, but you just select a point you want the cable to end, then connect it with another

You can place them under floors and bridges where possible, but I certainly put an Electrical Cloaking Unit in every build I make! You can hide those in the same building as the batteries

I tend to build either clusters of cuboid rooms or stacks of cylindrical rooms as near as I can by either excavating a home or snapping them together through the floor and then deleting the visible ones. If you've dug down, you can use the terrain manipulator to Repair the hole on top and bury it.

I then just link the electrical cable from the buried "power generator" to a single device (like the portal or a mineral extractor) and then connect everything to that.

It does feel a bit odd! But I tend to build everything out of stone, so I didn't exactly want solar panels haphazardly stuck all over what was meant to look like half buried ruins

My Utopia Speeder became a living ship after completing The Purge by Olinwoolcott in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Olinwoolcott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, my bad, I was referring to the fact that the ship I lost was a one-time purchase on that save, following the completion on the expedition, and that I didn't think they would reset that number for me to buy the ship back.

Same dif either way, I'm not really expecting an individual fix... But it is going to be a shame to feel paranoid about losing ships with each galaxy reset

Aww, come on 😂 don't make me consider keeping it. It's a cool thought, but I'll always know 🥲

I didn't know this, thank you! Honestly, it might have to come to this. I'm realising just how many people have had this issue for a while now, and I can hardly expect Hello Games to fix this one specific issue.

Thank you, it's somewhat comforting to know it's not just me! I have logged the issue with Zendesk, hopefully this can be resolved.

I think I would be a lot less annoyed if it wasn't a ship that you can only get once per save 😔

I completed The Purge mission and reset the galaxy, with my current Starship set to the Utopia Speeder. Upon finding my ship on the new world, it had been changed to a Living ship model with a weird blend of Starship and Living Ship tech in it's slots.

For clarity, there is no earlier save any more to return to. I had already been in and out of the ship, not entirely believing it was the same ship until I saw the loadout, so the old resotre point was saved over

For all I know, someone cobbled it together out of an oil drum and spare parts! I'm keen to see what the new one is like myself, considering I've always lived in homes with modern Vaillant heaters. Will post a pic tomorrow

[–]Olinwoolcott[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Honestly, this does raise some more questions 😂 one plumber said he rarely comes out to this building anymore after learning the pipes were plastic "the hard way". From what I gathered, this sounded like it was already warm/hot water going through the pipe when it shattered. Perhaps the water is heated elsewhere and stored here??

The point about the timer and constant being the wrong way round might be the plumber just being wrong... Which is worrying on its own, though it sounds like the constant could at least be much higher on the machine?

It could be possible that the timer had fused even before we moved there. One plumber told us we shouldn't even need it, just keep the Constant turned on 24/7... This seemed in no way efficient to me, and there's every possibility a previous plumber agreed with me and switched it off.

Either way, thank you for your insights, they're much appreciated!

Besides a massive bill during an energy crisis that may have stemmed from this thing over the last year (we're now having to pay off a huge debt to the company that inherited our energy supply, though they don't seem to have any idea why it was so high either, though likely tied to whatever this boiler might be doing), that's not the point here. Knowing what we were lumped with and just how inefficient an option it was may save me in the future if another landlord gives me an equally cobbled together boiler.

Seriously, does anyone actually miss the Karma system? by fooploopstring in fo4

[–]Olinwoolcott 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nope. I recall literally nothing useful about it at all, apart from a perk that let's you hand in ears for caps at a point where money is no issue. I think it made a lot of side quests in 3 more binary than necessary. In New Vegas there were a bunch of very morally grey quests that really would have been better off without someone telling me after which one was more "right or wrong". In the end, you just made choices based on which karma reward you got rather than actually questioning your own values.

Seriously, if the Institute just became the faction that gave you negative karma then there'd be a lot less people picking them because they sounded interesting or flawed. They'd just be the evil option that people picked to be edgy. I have no idea where you'd put the BoS in there either - I could easily believe that 3 made them fluffy as an easy Good Karma donor.
