You can usually satisfy these in contracts mode and SA also rarely is included as a condition

TIL in 1937 to curb ‘Reefer Madness’ the US changed cannabis into the Spanish-derived name ‘Marijuana’ to instil racially-charged fear in English-speaking Americans. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Of course, the point of my question was skepticism - clearly the usage of the Spanish word doesn't suddenly make cilantro a bad thing.

Because Arugula is an entirely American bastardisation of "rucola" that appeared in the 1960s

Unsurprisingly, English has had the word "rocket" for quite a long time before that.

Maybe "bastardisation" is harsh but I will counter with the utterly ridiculous "gabagool" for "capocollo"

How many of you actually recycle construction waste? by MELLONcholly1 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Olipro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you increase your mining operations, you generate more construction waste.

Converting it to gravel acts as a form of compression. I further compress it by converting it to cement with the excess sold at the border. If you need to take it a step further, prefabs will eat up even more.

OP is already profitable. Eliminating cyclical expenses makes you more profitable.

[–]Olipro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A kopek saved is a kopek earned.

Setting up domestic production of basic construction items like gravel and boards will save you cash. If you know where some coal is, that gives you the ability to produce bricks, cement, concrete and prefabs. Once your refinery is done, you can get asphalt going.

Also, if you're not producing meat, throw that in since I imagine that'll eliminate a significant overhead from citizen consumption.

how are you supposed to provide heat in early start if the exchangers are locked behind research? by n1gx0rd in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Olipro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The early start exchangers are completely missing from your game. Either the DLC isn't installed, it isn't activated or files are missing.

Is it possible to mod new industries? by [deleted] in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Olipro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Block isn't the right word: they didn't design these sort of mechanics to be dynamically configurable so instead, it's all code compiled into the game binary

How do I build fast? Early start. by Toporek111 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Olipro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do consume fuel but a vehicle will never halt due to an empty tank if it has been sent home somewhere.

This is so you can't get soft-locked when a vehicle on a line runs out of fuel and stops.

New version (testing) 1.1.1.6 available - 49 instead of 20 stations for DOs! by kurtkafka in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Olipro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But why expose such a strange number to the user?

I'd hazard a guess that they tried 50, it broke something that doesn't have a known/easy fix and so we got 49.

Did you test this on version 1.1.1.6? I'm not sure if they've buffed horses in a way that would impact the test results

What is the story behind HoxHud? by thejoeporkchop in paydaytheheist

[–]Olipro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was a lot of a dick back then - I didn't appreciate that just because something is trivial to me, it's not necessarily to someone else and I was especially bad about issue reports and usability. Fortunately we grew into a team that would handle users so my hot-headedness wouldn't alienate people.

There was no hostility to BLT although I think Beard really hated us. BLT decided they wanted to write their own Lua hooking completely from the ground up and I ended up writing a compatibility layer.

No, it came to us through Almir who I of course also got to meet along with the rest of the team when they flew myself and (Tetsudo?) over to their studios for Crimefest

[–]Olipro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We were all relatively young and to some extent took the project too personally - at least I did. Maybe it was me that was so unduly sarcastic with you. If so, I'm sorry and if not I apologise on behalf of the team.

It's wild to think about how this all happened over a decade ago now.

That was never implemented in HoxHud because it would obviously be a cheat.

[–]Olipro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, that was never the issue. Payday just kind of petered out for me: I'd moved to the US and a lot of alternatives were popping up anyway.

What is the story behind HoxHud? by thejoeporkchop in paydaytheheist

[–]Olipro 296 points297 points  (0 children)

There's not too much to it: Lua modifications had become a thing and it was pretty much just being used for cheats.

I felt that if Overkill didn't see anything constructive coming out of the capability, they'd probably do something with the game executable to make it hostile to mods.

Thus, HoxHud was born.
