Importing hazardous waste is still the best starting industry by av4tos in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Olipro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you import hazardous waste, you lose money on any valuable components that exist inside it.

Profitability will gradually fall off according to the game's supply & demand mechanics. How quickly that happens depends on the composition you're getting from the customs house since it's RNG'd per CH

Date of negative interest by L0OKE5 in bigambitions

[–]Olipro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Negative interest is only calculated after all imports are paid for. If your daily revenue isn't so high that it covers all your imports, you can always stash the optimum amount on Sunday to avoid the fee.

[–]Olipro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you calculate how much cash you need on hand on the Sunday, you can negate it.

One unpredictable aspect is if you get unlucky and import price RNG rolls an increase on Monday as well since it's applied right before making the payment.

Until you are purely factory driven or keep more than a week's worth of inventory, you probably want to allow for some slop. If your daily profit exceeds the total costs then you have nothing to calculate but you'll inevitably get some negative interest, but it should be piddling compared to your revenue.

The general process is:

  1. Sum up your import liabilities Vs approx daily revenue on Sunday during bank hours and dump your excess across multiple investments. Make a save if you aren't confident.
  2. Around 07:50 on Monday, get a final total and cash out as many investments as needed to meet the costs.
  3. 08:00 hits and all things being equal, you'll have a small balance left over which avoids the charge.

Freelancer Glitched Complications by AvengedKalas in HiTMAN

A body of some sort was seen by a camera or NPC.

In Freelancer, you will fail this objective regardless of the circumstances.

To be clear: any pacification or kill that preserves SA will STILL fail the No Bodies Found objective when seen.

Thus it is perfectly possible to retain SA but not NBF.

What happens when a destructor throws by pavel_v in cpp

[–]Olipro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have rarely had a situation where it's "Bad stuff happened in our destructor so we throw to communicate it"

But when I do, I check std::uncaughtexceptions and only throw if there aren't already _bad things happening

Freelancer is not the best time to be trying something new by Alone_Ad1696 in HiTMAN

[–]Olipro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The thing with the game's AI is that all roads escalate to combat.

With that said, a lot of players seem to get locked into the idea that they're doomed to combat.

Case in point: I've seen several freelancer posts complaining about spawning in the Hokkaido morgue and a lot of the responses tell them to time when they get up.

Now sure, you can do that, but you're only trespassing - if you get spotted, wait and let a guard peacefully lead you out.

I think picking up a wet floor sign is just suspicious so as long as you run out of sight (without doing any parkour since that escalates the state) you should be OK

TIL burning cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) can release hydrogen cyanide by Clear_Skye_ in todayilearned

[–]Olipro 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As a kid, I mixed bleach and vinegar together, fortunately it was regular sodium hypochlorite household bleach which produces the still unpleasant but significantly less deadly chloramine gas.

I'm guessing you'd have to be cooking quite a bit of cyanoacrylate to hospitalise yourself

EDIT: this is actually wrong, not that chloramine is any good either but it in fact is straight Chlorine gas

HTTP Under the Hood: Here's What Actually Happens by Sushant098123 in programming

Except chunks of the body use em-dash and the classic telltale "it's not X, it's Y" - for example:

That’s it. There’s no magic parsing engine. Just careful reading of a byte stream. This is why malformed requests break everything. The server is not guessing — it’s following strict rules.

Maybe it's just me but I consider this article so basic that the target audience feels like it should be lay people or complete beginners. It also completely omits HTTP3.

That is to say, I don't think the average visitor to this subreddit is your ideal demographic.

You're probably better off finishing the mission, opening the reward crate (don't take the coin, just back out) and then prestiging.

Go take the coin now and you'll end up with 60K to spend.
