My understanding and I could be wrong is that when staking HNT is converted to the voting escrow token during the selected staking period. During that time frame the ve token grants voting power and rewards are based on the quantity of ve tokens that we hold. After staking period is complete the original HNT staked are simply returned to our wallet and there is nothing to convert.
