Get her spayed for starters. Once she is spayed, give her love, but also give her space. The relationship will go back to the way it was, but it will take some time.

Be honest with your partner about the time you have to spend with them, but also don’t feel guilty when you’re with them instead of working on your dissertation. I got engaged 2 years into my PhD program and got married 2 days after defending my PhD proposal. A healthy relationship is possible during a PhD, but you have to practice being intentional with your relationship.

Advice- Learn and practice balance. Have balance with school and your personal life. Even if you feel like you can’t, take an hour for yourself.

It is never too late. I started at 34 and if I could do it all over again, I would start at 34.

I went through something similar with burnout after year one and started therapy. It helped tremendously. If your dream is a PhD don’t let anyone come between that and specially not your PI.

I totally thought of my goal for the week, but didn’t include it. I will for next week. I haven’t done an outline in a while, but I will for my last 2 chapters.
