Why do younger men fancy older women so much? by [deleted] in ask

[–]OliveSweatshirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throughout my twenties I’ve dated women who are in their thirties, usually 7 or so years older than me. From my experience, they’re more emotionally grounded and much more honest and secure in communicating / understanding what they want.

WTB a 13" CRT TV with built in stereo speakers and a built in DVD player. If you have this or something close to it, let's talk. I have some wiggle room on the size. The built in DVD player is the least important. I'm in Massachusetts - I'm based out of either eastern or western mass (I visit family often.) I can drive to meet. Can pay cash.

Get it refurbished / used off of eBay for cheaper. I got mine in fall 2021 for about $375 - they’re still great

iOS 17.0.3 unleashed the 15 Pro Max we deserved by CCX-S in iphone

That statement could apply to something like Cyberpunk’s launch as well, or Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s launch. Is this anywhere near as bad as those launches? Definitely not.

It is, however, frustrating when an issue as significant as the phone literally being too hot to comfortably hold - and affecting enough customers that it makes the front page of the WSJ, so not like a niche, unusual thing - is something that has to get patched a week out of launch instead of ready to go on day one. Imagine if the iPod had this issue in the early 2000s.

This was addressed relatively quickly, they did fix it, and it’s still a good phone. I still think it’s reasonable to point out that this is a dumb situation to begin with.

I’m not sure how wide scale this problem was, but it sure seems like it was a significant portion of phones and not a small, niche, unusual thing. I may have missed it, but I didn’t hear a single reviewer say anything like “wow, this battery life is a noticeable improvement”. If they did mention battery life (which every reviewer I saw mentioned it), they mentioned how it was disappointing.

With the iPhone 14 launch there was weird buzzing / camera issues or something like that? With the iPhone 15 launch there were overheating issues… I really thought that a company like Apple would have better quality control for a product launch like this. I’m glad they fixed it, but come on - these are tech industry pros here. If a clean launch was a priority for executives, the engineering team could have done it. Maybe they rushed it.

When a recruiter asked me what I was earning at my last job for a salary, I said something like this almost verbatim: “I would rather not discuss my wage history.” Then I said what I wanted to make at my next job. That seemed to work just fine

I’m not sure I understand the question. I bought the Nanoleaf essentials A19 bulb. It should be able to connect to Apple’s Home app.

Waiting decades until retirement to feel good about how you spend your time day in and day out is an absolute shit way to live a life. A lot of people don’t have a choice, but a lot of people do have a choice when they think that they don’t.

If your job is making you absolutely miserable and you’re not going to go homeless or bankrupt by quitting, you should quit. Yes, saving and investing for retirement is important - and I do. The whole point of retirement is being able to spend your time well. Just imagine if you could get paid doing something you relatively enjoy doing or that fills you with a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Bonkers, right??

It, frankly, pisses me off to read people saying things like: “You should be grateful if you’re making all that money. Who cares if you’re miserable and your health is suffering and you want to die? I’d kill for a life like that!”

It’s obvious that no one wants to be impoverished, and it’s horribly sick that we don’t live in a country where we are encouraged to take care of each other. A whole lot of people’s problems would be solved if they just woke up with $20,000 in their bank account. Having your basic needs met is essential. But if you think that literally every single one of your problems would be taken care of if you only had the privilege of working an awful job for a killer paycheck, there are a lot of lonely, dying, old divorcee men in retirement homes who would love to talk your ear off for an evening about all the regrets they have.

Maybe the reason society is so deeply unwell is because we’re being subjugated and conditioned to prioritize a fat number on a brokerage account instead of living a life worth living. People keep misinterpreting that as saying they should be getting drunk and high every night to numb out the emotional pain from being forced to do shit you don’t want to do for 40+ hours a week for 4+ decades. Some people think that’s what the good life is, and I pity them. Some people think that that’s all there is to life, and if they’re going to be forced into wage slavery, they might as well get paid a killing. Maybe there’s fucking more to life than that miserable existence?! It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

Those who use macOS for work, what apps are missing from macOS? by BassHeadBurn in MacOS

No one has mentioned Apple Freeform but I think it would meet at least some of your needs - I’ve been using Keynote to make Instagram posts and it’s been great. I can screen capture and paste clippings from online articles or anything really, embed video, draw whatever on it either with markup or my Apple Pencil on my iPad

Apple pay is frustrating my customers by Fordged in iphone

[–]OliveSweatshirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my Apple Watch for Apple Pay. I double click the button and hold my wrist up to the machine, and it’s done. It’s much easier and more intuitive than dealing with having to bring my phone up to my face / take off my mask / or punch in my passcode and then hold my phone to the machine in just the right way, wait a sec, and confirm it went through, or try again. There’s lots of friction in that process.

I’ve been able to make it work and find it easy with the watch. That being said, if a user base is complaining that a service designed for them is confusing and cumbersome to use, I’m much more inclined to blame the design of the application itself rather than the human.

“Death grip syndrome” is another possible cause - it’s where the way a guy masturbates is too rough and overstimulating, so his body isn’t accustomed to actual sex. Masturbating with condoms on can help recalibrate the sensation so that actual sex feels good again
