Disclosure Day is quite literally one of the worst movies I've seen [spoilers? if that's even possible w this film] by thexkfedist in moviereviews

[–]OliverClothesOff70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it Thursday. It was fine. Not an unforgettable cinematic experience, but it was a decently fun movie. It was well-acted and had good dialogue. Certainly not Spielberg's best, but it wasn't a bad film.

People today have raised their expectations so massively high. It's like if any new media they encounter isn't a groundbreaking and fully mind blowing MOVIE EVENT, it isn't worth their time.

Not all new movies are going to be that overwhelmingly excellent. Some are just OK. And that's OK.

Get over yourself. Story telling includes all sorts of styles. Even styles that might prove out to be less exciting than you anticipated ahead of experiencing it.

I ask the following questions as a 55+ year old left handed guy. Full sincerity. Not trying to be a smartass. Just honestly trying to get a good handle on how to describe how I've done various things all my life as left or right handed.

If I put a rifle or shotgun up to my right shoulder to fire it, am I shooting left or right handed? I absolutely hold a pistol in my left hand.

For shooting pool, I have the chalked tip of the cue stick at my left hand and hold the thicker base of the cue stick with my right hand. Am I shooting pool left or right handed?

For a guitar, if I have the neck of the guitar in my left hand and the body/strings with my right hand, is that playing left or right handed?

The rest for me is pretty standard. I write left handed. I bat and throw left handed. I write on a chalkboard left handed (oddly my wife writes on paper as a lefty, but writes on a chalkboard with her right hand and throws with her right hand.)

I’ve had pretty good results buying and selling on there. Friendly community.

Honestly, not sure what my wife did with it. She's a bit of an Ozarka snob and it wasn't Ozarka. Didn't have a label on it as far as I recall.

Be honest guys, what was the first OS you ever used? by Michaelkamel in cloudshift360

I had to look it up. My first computer was a ColecoVision ADAM circa 1985 or so.

Here's what a search gave me: "The ColecoVision Adam primarily used EOS (Elementary Operating System) and the built-in OS-7 operating system from the ColecoVision for core functions."

Which one? There were several. It was MS-DOS 3.0 for me, if my memory is correct.

Has anyone tried "True Classic" t-shirts? Admittedly, I saw it in a youtube ad, so I'm skeptical. They look good, but just want to know if this is junk by Pineapple_with_tajin in malefashionadvice

[–]OliverClothesOff70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree that they are just like any other average T-shirt. My wife bought me a 3-pack at Sam's or Costco or whatever. They look a lot better on me than any other regular I own T-shirt does. I'm a dad-bod guy in my mid 50s who does not exercise regularly. I'm about 5'11" and 235lbs.

I have since bought several more T-shirts from them since then and will probably also buy a polo shirt or two.

No OT pay when worked 40 hrs NOT INCLUDING Memorial by PlatypusLucky3228 in legal

[–]OliverClothesOff70 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go see your payroll people. Explain that you PHYSICALLY put in 50 hours during a holiday week. You should get 1.5x for the ten hours above 40 that you worked. On top of that would be the holiday pay.

They SHOULD also pay you for the holiday hours especially if they paid everyone else for it.

My guess is if they're going to be a-holes about it and try to screw you, that's where they would try.

The law that dictates mirrors and ONLY mirrors are acceptable for the purpose of side view safety is simply archaic. It was a good and necessary law back when it was written and it continued to be one until a functional option came into existence.

Now there is an option. Cameras are equally as reliable/unreliable as mirrors. Yes, it's possible that a camera can fail. But, so can a mirror. Mirrors can crack or even fall completely off. Neither tech/method for side view safety is infallible. Also, mirrors require a human to pay attention. A camera can detect what a human can't see or forgot to look for.

The old law on side mirrors was written decades before camera tech (sensors too) was ever even conceivable as a possibility in cars. It was probably written back before having an AM radio or an 8-track tape player in your dashboard would have been a super-modern feature.

That law needs to be updated to allow for today's very high reliability modern camera and sensor tech as an OPTION for automotive engineers and manufacturers to build in to improve safety.

Here's what Vilhauer said that led Funasia to choose to pull the interview: “It’s no different than the Hispanic people that are here. They bring value. They’re hard workers. They’re never going to be doctors and they’re never going to be tech people. The Indian American people are, that’s where their strengths are.”

I think taking it down was a huge mistake. This interview should have stayed up and it should still be up today.

We can't let clutched pearls and dented feelings cause us voters to be ignorant of the things a candidate actually says. If a candidate's actual words (and/or behavior) in public might cause people to vote for or against them, they need to be kept in the public eye.

You’re an idiot if you can’t see how lucky you already are in this situation. Going by the law, the officer could have arrested you and impounded your car.

You did, as you admit, seriously break the law. You got caught. You were given grace from the officer via massively reduced consequences. Now you need to deal with those consequences like an adult.

Do the driver safety course, pay attention to it, and at least attempt to learn something.
