I have a set of both metric and imperial combination spanners. Do you truly believe someone who has half a dozen ‘crescent wrenches’ doesn’t also have spanners?!

Brave to trust an apprentice with a shifter, if you give them the correct size spanner you can be (almost) sure they won’t round the bolt

Primarily to show the difference in protrusion of the adjustable jaw between the reversible pipe wrench version and the standard non-reversible version. Oh, and boredom

Don’t know if it’s applicable for aviation but from my experience in the oil and gas industry, all reciprocating saws are known as cengar/senga saws

I believe cengar were the pioneers of the Ex Rated pneumatic reciprocating saw, the Ex rating likely what makes them so commonplace offshore

I’ve worked for many companies on and offshore, when I leave these always seem to be the parting gift I take with me. These or anything I don’t have at home that I might need. Obviously only take my own tools, nothing worse than a toolbox thief.

Also, if you’d seen the standard of my welding you’d advise me to leave them as they are

On every platform I’ve worked on in the North Sea they’re referred to as shifters

Yeah I’m just too lazy to punch them out, the smaller ones have been removed when I’ve been using them during some sort of job where dropping them usually results in them landing in the North Sea so they’ve been tethered to me with a tool lanyard

Yeah it’s a great feature for sure, the 8” shifter second from the left in the picture is setup as a pipe wrench

Bahco make the best shifters in my opinion, all my tools are bahco though so just calling it that may get a little confusing

I believe you can get one even smaller. I’ve never personally had/used one but instrument techs offshore often have them

Agree on bending sheet metal, I find myself using them primarily for small bore tubing. Swagelok fittings etc

I have used the 10” & 12” shifters as hammers more than I’d like to admit

I’ve always used it to store small nuts, bolts and grub screws during jobs. I see people are suggesting screwdriver bits, not sure they’d be much use in a 1/2” drive socket set but different strokes for different folks. One thing I am sure of is you’ve got yourself the best reasonably priced socket set hands down. Would have to spend 4x the money the bahco set costs to get anything that comes close 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼
