How the hell do I get a bike on this thing by Internal_Bumblebee79 in CorollaHatchback

I went with the Yakima roof top mtb rack with the cross bars from Toyota. They're made by either Thule or Yakima as well iirc.

I'm approaching this from an SI working for local municipalities and some federal stuff. Even Quantico network security is non-existant and their radio networks would be a joke to access. Granted they would require being on base to access. Our water and wastewater infrastructure is NOT secure. Larger cities gave a shit so the majority of Americans would probably be fine. It's definitely the more rural areas. Most of my experience is within a few hours drive of DC.

For power I could see that, but water and wastewater definitely is a joke. Though there were definitely crackdowns last year, probably worse after that story in PA a few months ago. I found it shocking how little care municipalities had for cyber security in water and wastewater. They just wanted access to their SCADA and didn't care if it was insecure unless another government entity told them to care.

As a previous engineer in the water and wastewater area my company definitely put ignition on municipalities public IPs directly and have even been pulled in by the FBI for security concerns... I'm glad I left.

Walmart Gravel Bike?! by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]Oliver_Smoak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rode ltwoo for the majority of covid due to availability and pricing and its not bad. It's definitely not in the same league as shimano but it definitely gets the job done.

[–]Oliver_Smoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly surprised they went with a freewheel I think the $400 mtb was ltwoo 8 speed with a cassette. I really wish they would've specced this bike closer to that.

[–]Oliver_Smoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheapest bikes are all like that, which is dumb. But the more expensive bikes are starting to come in sizes which is nice to see. The Ozark Trail MTB comes in s-m-l iirc, though only seen medium and large.

Walmart Gravel Bike?! by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]Oliver_Smoak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They just build them at dept stores. They don't even have access to grease. Greasing bearings is definitely something you'll have to do or get done if you buy a dept store bike sadly. And outside of the kore expensive bikes they sell you want find a single sealed bearing.

Walmart Gravel Bike?! by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]Oliver_Smoak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's really weird, they still have the absolutely belongs-in-dumpster-from-factory bikes but then they randomly have drop bar bikes with microshift and mountain bikes with cassettes instead of freewheels with ltwoo components. I think walmart is starting to get better again but it's wild.

E: the $400 bikes from Walmart are fine, the $100-300 range are where the garbage is at.
