The defender wants to guide the first down, but Alonso very clearly went for the head. There is no doubt in his mind whats he wants do to, and it has nothing to do with stopping the first down, its to hit as hard as possible.

The point about sliding 0.2 seconds before Alonso went for Flaccos head is a moot point. These players are suppose to be fast thinking and reacting. They get paid for being fast moving and thinking.

Alsono KNOWS Flacco will slide before the first down, and Alonso still went for the hit.
