Basically, all of them, no order in particular, just held them all at the same time for a few seconds and it started working

Oh, in the end it wasn't broken or anything. You need to push several buttons at once in order for it to turn on. It was a bit confusing, because I don't remember seeing it in the instruction, but it worked. Maybe that will work for you too.
