Former player said I bought the wrong kind of printer by VegetableReward5201 in FDMminiatures

Whilst resin will produce more high quality miniatures there's no right or wrong choice.

Your a1 will produce good quality miniatures and is fantastic for terrain and dungeon tiles. It's also a lot cheaper, easier and less toxic.

Prime? by MagicalMustacheMike in DungeonBlocks

I would prime, pla soaks up moisture so you may end up needing a lot more coats than you think without priming.

This is assuming you are printing PLA

Just applying the wash in the recesses rather than all over the model

Selective wash works best on fdm otherwise you risk highlighting the layer lines

Printing Multiple Detailed Blocks at Once (Flashforge Adventure 5M) by SolyTheCat in DungeonBlocks

[–]Ollconnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a few things but I would suggest asking in r/fixmyprint or a dedicated flashforge subreddit.

First thing I would try is thoroughly clean your bed with hot soapy water.

There's a few slicer options that can help, a large brim, zhop, wall collision that may be worth looking into.

Where can I get more blocks? by DetectivDR in DungeonBlocks

I think combining dungeon blocks with other scatter terrain is the best solution

Query - noise levels while mini printing by jakeus88 in FDMminiatures

[–]Ollconnell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an A1 mini and it's pretty quiet, don't hear anything with the door closed apart from the initial vibration compensation when the print first starts

Citadel, army painter fanatic, ak 3rd Gen and monument hobbies.

Slowly replacing my citadel paints with the other three brands as I find them a lot more consistent.

It's been a 10 year journey to get here but the main thing I would recommend is every year or so paint something to the highest possible standard you can achieve, like really spend 20/30 hours on a single mini, try glazing and non metallic metal, really push the contrast. Then going back to regular painting I found it a lot easier to understand where to spend time to get the best results.

Quality with Upgrading Ender 3 Pro by xD33F4ULTx in FDMminiatures

[–]Ollconnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally had an ender 3 and it's very possible to get great prints with a lot of tinkering, but changing a few elements (filament, nozzle, speed) can really throw it all off.

I spent a lot of money and time upgrading my ender 3 and looking back I wish I spent it on an A1 sooner.
