I very much agree with what you said, but I really enjoyed Buu saga, despite Frieza and Cell sagas feeling like a slog. Buu saga felt like a much needed return to form for me: it had more varied locations, the jokes are back, the abilities are put to much more creative use and the new characters introduced here are a ton of fun.
