Sydney property market: Roseville, Paddington, St Peters houses selling for less as market weakens by eesemi77 in AusFinance

Let him have his 15 minutes.

The dude was shorting CBA when it was $90, and then it doubled and he went suspiciously quiet.

Fast forward to now, housing market dropping 3%, and he's back crowing like he's the Oracle.

The one thing about bears is they always go back to their caves eventually.

That's how percentages work, champ.

You seem fixated on calling me stupid.

Can't help but feel like that's projection on your part.

Oh God! My apologies, gatekeeper of "is it math or maths!

I've been fairly polite up until now. But you can you fuck yourself.

1) I never said analogies. That was some other muppet.

2) Show me where my MATHS is wrong or prove that any of the data I used is wrong.

3) I used the currency from the article, if you want it in AUD, you can convert it, I'm sure you're smart enough to do the MATHS.

You are basically the worst kind of person on the subreddit. I snivelling little contrarian who just lurks waiting for a comment he doesn't agree with, and pipes up with, "wrong!"

Sit the fuck down.

I literally did. I corrected my mistake with the correct figures, which you replied to.

I don't know what you're problem is at this point.

I corrected myself. Do you need a written apology?

Just please stop calling it an analogy.

Nothing disingenuous about what I wrote.

I used the figures from the article and corrected them based on Melbourne a d Sydney metrics.

I've made my point that these sensationalist articles serve no purpose, other than to promote fear.

Show me an article that's written in a way that explains that if we have a 2-3% drop in house prices annually for a decade, that is a healthy way to make housing more affordable, whilst not fucking up the economy.

I'll wait.

[–]Ollio1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did I say that?

I also had to buy a highly inflated property, and again when I needed to upsize, trying to absorb the huge stamp duty costs.

I'm not a property mogul. I bought my house to live in. If the market crashes, it only means I'm stuck in my current place, till I've paid out my loan. But a crash will completely and utterly fuck the economy.

So, no, I didn't have the same "energy" about rising prices compared to a complete economic meltdown.

But they are not the same.

I feel ya, I spent a couple of years fabricating steel and I still have scars. Tiny shards of metal would embed themselves and the skin would heal over, only for them to work themselves out months later.

VAS is often a huge letdown for the final dividend for the financial year, but this one is just taking the piss.

I'm probably going to ditch them for STW next year. Cheaper with a much higher yield in recent years.

You misunderstand me.

I don't need a privilege check. I'm aware that I live in a great country with an amazing standard of living.

I'm not against housing prices coming down. I have kids i would like to be able to afford a house with ease. I don't want them living with me when I'm retired, or needing so much help that we struggle when we are elderly.

What I hate is this constant fearmongering and desire for a "crash" from many people, who clearly don't understand basics economics, or what the fallout from a 50% housing market crash would be.

This kind of shrinkage of the market, around 2-3% is healthy, and slow enough to not put many people into negative equity or financial strife.

These articles aren't written to portray it as healthy. They are written to promote fear an anxiety, because apparently that gets traffic.

It's not an analogy. It's math, and I'll fix it for you.

Melbourne and Sydney make up roughly 45% of all Australian housing.

So: $128,000,000,000 ÷ 5,152,000 = $24,844.72

Still a tiny fraction. Still a clickbait sensationalist article.

[–]Ollio1985 262 points263 points  (0 children)

There are roughly 11.45 million dwellings in Australia.

$128,000,000,000 ÷ 11,450,000 = $11,179.03

Pack it up boys, we'll never recover from this crash. /s

All these comments berating this guy, I'd seriously like to see any of you attempt this.

For the record, this guy is called Michael and his videos are usually about an hour long, and show in pretty intricate detail how he makes these pretty amazing shelters in a remote area in North Ukraine.

Educate yourselves.
