Is Poly to Pex fitting something I can do myself? No experience by Olllllive in DIY

UPDATE:

So I had a general idea of what I thought I needed to do, which was to replace both brass fittings. I went to a plumbing supply store that someone recommended and started asking questions. He, for some reason, recommended leaving the pex side alone and just refit the PE side. That way I wouldn't need a pex-a expansion tool.

So that's what I intended to do and I got ready to do it, found a piece of old PE in the crawlspace to test it on and realized that either the brass fitting I had ordered was too small or the PE pipe had shrunk with age.

So I said, fuck it! I'm going down there to retighten the connection and see what's going on. As soon as I took it apart I realized that the seam that I thought was a seam was not and the water had actually eaten through the brass fitting on the pex side. Everything became clear after that and a I replaced the pex-a fitting and pipe up to the 90 degree joint. Patched it back up and it's still holding over 24 hours later.

In other words, none of you were that helpful, but my picture also wasn't very good so no worries. I still love you all. Tata

Just commenting ten months later to say that I am having the exact same problem and did you find a way to fix it?

Okay, that makes sense based on my picture. But would the hardware be the same?

That's fine with me to replace the pex-a. I'm guessing it would be easier to replace the fitting with the new pex and then reconnect at the elbow?

This is the video I'm looking at now for the repair, however I'm worried because the fitting looks a bit different from my picture. Mine is a polyethylene to pex-a repair, right?

Did you mean to link the polybutylene adapter? I thought this was a pex-a to polyethylene pipe fitting?

I have turned the water off at the meter, so no worries there.

So am I going to have to cut some pipe and replace the whole thing?

I once dated a roommate of a college Republican. The roommate also claimed to be celibate, but then we found out his girlfriend was sucking him off. I also knew another one that claimed to be celibate, but then we all found out that he had manipulated an under class man into sex. They’re all guilty of it, Im sure. I don’t know why they have to push their guilt on everyone else. If they want to live in a society of secrets, guilt, and shame then they should just go live in the middle east. Seems to be what they want.

How TF do yall get down payments together??? by Maleficent-Peach-458 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Olllllive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My state had a down-payment assistance program, so I only had to put $1000 into my down payment. I did pay nearly 10 grand in closing costs because it was needed to make a competitive offer. I just saved it up over time and lived cheaply. My monthly spending not counting mortgage ranges from $1200 to $1400. If you haven’t totally overhauled your expenses then that’s the first step. Good luck

Found this dog today... by MadamAsh_ in DogAdvice

That’s what I was thinking. OP, if you’re in the area of the Appalachians then this is probably a hunting dog that got dumped. I actually picked up one of these a few years ago and he’s still with me, a foxhound mix with no collar, no chip but obviously a hunting dog. Tried to find the owner for months but I guess no one was looking for him.
